Well I returned my 961 to the dealer at the beginning of the week as it was still not running how I think it should. Below 3.5K or so it would hesitate and surge on a constant throttle and then it started to cut out on one cylinder when opening the throttle especially after over taking. Seemed to me like either a very weak mixture or fuel starvation.
Should be coming back today with the dealer reporting that they have replaced the plugs and their mechanics think its running fine. My concern is the bike only has 3K miles on it so surely should not need new plugs in that time and if it does why? Obviously a test ride when it comes back will confirm whether or not it is fixed but does this sound plausible? I still think a trip down to Norton themselves to get the map checked is in order but it's quite a trek from North Lincolnshire.
