Has anyone had trouble sealing the rocker feed banjo on a stainless braided rocker feed kit?
At the moment I am using the standard aluminium washer between the head and the banjo and it always leaks slightly
I never had this happen with the standard nylon pipe and fittings
I'm considering using dowty washers
Or copper washers ?
Cheers

I use copper on these banjos and anneal them by propane torching to cherry red prior to fitting. I run nylon hose (new) as the 45+ yrs old stuff has undeniable track record.

A THIN film of Loctite 518 on the aluminum washers keep mine leak free.

Aluminum washers will benefit from the annealing process as well as copper.

Copper here too.

Copper with Wellseal on troublesome ones.

You sure it’s the banjo face? My braided set up wasn’t fully tight and weeped out of one of the joints. Of course, when you start tightening the pipe twists, I had to take it all off and tighten and align then re fit.

I've used both the aluminum and copper washers. Annealing and a small film of Hylomar non setting gasket sealant. When I switched the 850 over to full synthetic oil Hylomar became my best friend. Never ever a leak. Gaskets, threads, case to case, it always seems to work.

I did try tightening the gland nut to the banjo and it was tight
I'm also wondering if the leak is elsewhere
I'll have to double check the fittings it's a small leak and hard to see
I may take the gland nut off to check the olive
Never had a problem before this upgrade!!

You were spot on Eddie I think!!
When I first fitted the oil pipe I didn't notice how close it was to the low tension spade on the coil
And it once blew the fuse , on close examination it looks like it'd burnt a tiny hole through the nylon pipe inside the stainless braiding
Luckily I found a spare peice of braided hose the right length that fitted the stainless banjos
So tomorrow I shall give it a try and see if the weep has finally gone
Cheers

So now we have to add another reason not to use the stainless braided lines....cost, abrasion & now electrical shorting? My $0.50/10-foot nylon air brake line is looking pretty good right now.

Be aware that the splayed feeds on the rocker banjos on some braided sets can contact the head if installed turned in towards the head and not allow the banjos to seat squarely .

Don't, in the Grip of Frustration, overtighten and strip the head threads. Better the smear of sealant after annealing.

5/16 BSF /15 ft-lbs max from the book
If it leaks, fix it! permatex 518 is OK
Black nylon 11 rules...;)

Just an update
It was the link pipe and not the Banjo
It was the ham fisted owner of the bike that fitted the link pipe in a way that allowed it to touch a live spade connector on the coil !!!!!!

Personally i use alloy washers as there softer... but they should only be used once
When i made the first one of mine the mandrel used to stop the banjo turning was slightly undersize and it burred the mating surface of the banjo.... when i used the correct size the problem went away.... but i still use alloy washers

Where do you get Hylomar in US? There seems to be several different Hylomar products like Hylomar M, etc. Which do you use> Thanks.
