A friend has hit on this problem: the forks on his Domi have different mudguard boss locations.

Roadholder question
Roadholder question

Anyone got any ideas which model they're from, or swaps to get this sorted?

The one on the right could possibly be a featherbed Manx Norton item?

hi bogus, just a guess, could one slider be from long roadholders and the other from short ones ?

hi bogus, just another thought regarding what lab said,if the slider on the right is indeed from a manx then there should be no mudgaurd lugs at the bottom of the slider (although they could have been ground off to look like manx items} ?

There are many period shots of early featherbed Manx Nortons which shows sliders with rear stay lugs.

If it has two stay lugs, there is another possibility that the slider is a very early featherbed Dominator 88 type? Or possibly it could be from an International model?

Thanks for the replies everyone.

We're thinking that the RH leg is off a Commando, the LH possibly original late '50s Domi.
The bike is a bitsa Cafe racer based on an 88, so we're hoping a Commando LH leg will get a matching set.

The bike is in France, so not easy to have a look!

I've only seen Commando sliders that match the one on the left? (do you mean right and left as we are looking at them in the photos, as I can't tell which side of the bike is which from the photos?)

Sorry LAB, I'm not being clear, am I?

The LH photo one mounts the brake plate, and is the RH leg :!: - the photos are from the front, hence reversed, so although I knew what I was talking about...

I try to follow the 'as when sitting on the bike' convention...sometimes ;)
