Rescuing my WD WW2 Norton 16H

Thanks Lineslinger :) Just waiting on a few bits to arrive before I can get the wheels re fitted they are all painted though!

Managed to get the clutch an brake levers as well.

Just gotta find the following bits,

1" bar end x1, late type rear carrier, rear pannier frames, du42 an blackout, pillion footrests an a rear late type pillion seat, +a few other lil bits huge progress though! Few other bits after that but that's the main stuff.

norton_rider great work....where you get that brownish tshirt with logo? I have looked all over cre-a-shun for one that color

The T Shirt is from the new Norton clothing concern, one of Stuart Garners spin offs.

I’ve bought a couple, but the web site is down, I’m not sure if this means the business has gone under with the rest of Norton? Kinda looks like it...

Yep was a Norton clothing one what you can't see on the video's is the back of the shirt all ripped out at the bottom cause it was so thin luckily the sweater stayed a bit better. There was another classic motorcycle shirt company that used to do a Norton tt wins one they last forever I'll try find the link at some point Alan :)

Bit of good news today got all the control cables thanks to my old man for my Birthday. Really motoring on with the restoration now! Just waiting on things coming that I ordered ages ago that are taking a bit still. Should be able to put her Raf Number back on the tank this week if the replacement rim tape comes.

Been spending so many hours searching for original pictures luckily thanks to a few of the lads I've got hold of one 103 numbers from mine and one 200 or so before epic reference pictures.

Keep it going because I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear/see the old beastie roar to life and take to the road.

Not sure you’re being fair there... judging by your YouTube vids it’s the ONLY t shirt you ever wear ;)

Haha yeah I had a few of them lol that's the last one.

Thanks mate! Gonna be a delay on the paperwork as you cant get it done currently with the restrictions! An we are all on lockdown. Got plenty of setup to do once I've got the parts to make her run gonna run her round the garden when I can :) hear that single cylinder roar I'll have to buy dad some lawn seeds... lol!

I may have missed it reading through, how/where are you sourcing your parts.
Especially the smaller detailed items.

Hi Lineslinger just through the help of other wd enthusiasts on the wd nl bsa forum an all the wd motorcycle groups on fb + ebay. Up to now I've managed to use original wd parts excluding the bars and the battery box which are repop.

Luckily the bike mainly was all Norton WD bits excluding the bar assy.

The headlight being a du142 is war time but early and rare, should have the du42 on with a blackout which is smaller, I may end up using a pattern one or leaving the du142 on for now.

Main Priority at the mo is getting her running :) then the last few detail bits I can deal with after that, hoping to track down a rear late type rear carrier though an late type wd oil tank as those 3 items inc the headlight really make a difference to the look of the bike.
oh yep an the correct throttle I've got a matchless one at the moment although push comes to shove it'l get me going.

I didn't expect to make anywhere near as much progress as I have so fast really is down to the help of others selling parts so I can progress her an get her together. :) Making the odd mistake along the way but I expected that as it's quite the learning curve compared to going to one of the Norton dealers for the bits on the 650ss an Commando.

Quite a decent workshop day today on the ww2 Raf Norton 16H got the new tyres fitted with the original levers from my 650ss :) feels great to see her sat on the wheels again!

Next step is to paint the Raf Erm and roundels on + the Norton logo that'll be exciting!!
Episode 22 is also on the channel:)

Jumping the gun here slightly as the video isnt uploaded yet but was excited to show you all started to put her original Raf numbers back on! Super exciting an humbling moment. Brush painting and well for that extra bit of detail :)

The workshop manual states that the valve guides should be greased once a week with W.D. Lub. C.600.
Do you know what modern grease to use?

Sounds like a GL-4 gear oil.

Oil C-600 Lubricating Oil, Gear Compounded

For use in vehicle transmissions, general gear applications and chassis lubrication operated over the product temperature range above 0OC. This lubricant is not suitable for use with hypoid gears, in automatic transmissions or torque converter drives.
