I'm getting close to getting my MK II running after a gearbox rebuild.

The gearbox case has been bead blasted and painted with HT aluminum paint. The inner primary and crankcase have cleaned up quite well.

The head however looks a bit shoddy. It has some minor corrosion and baked on oil mist. I would like to use some sort of cleaner to brighten it up a bit.

Any suggestions? I do have some Simple Green spray. Perhaps give it a good scrub with a soft brush and spray it off?

A bit late now but this was a plain old wooden handle brass bristle wire brush done in the frame.

You could use Duragloss853 but in the bike would be risky at best.
I use Pledge or CRC808 on castings once cleaned, Dubbin on vintage bikes including heavy patina/bubbled paint.

I removed baked in oil y soaking it I degreaser then with neat car shampoo and a small brass brush. The worst came off first time, I repeated it a couple of times after I'd ridden it and let it cool, and nearly all gone, just a couple of little spots, which I removed with a small sharp pick.

I tried Solvol on an old toothbrush and was surprised how well it worked on the head.

Oven cleaner should do well for burnt on oil. It will convert oils to soap for effective wipe off.

I used brass brush wheel on slow spin drill with 3n1 oil , then wiped down with brake cleaner soaked green scotch pads , turned out pretty good , I did remove from frame ….
