I have worked on this project for a long time getting the fitments to apply to Norton, BSA and Triumph maybe others. It is a three relay kit with the required wiring to put it on your bike. The relays are Motorcycle duty not car relays that I started with.
Right away in the development the problem of models with small head lights came up so an under the tank system was chosen. The use is to your digression but started as high beam low beam and horn. On older bikes 67 and back with grounding switch horns I have used a separate relay wired it backwards in the headlight just for the horn and then used the third relay for the ignition switch.
The kit includes a 90 degree H-4 headlight plug, a fused connector for the battery end, the relays are pre-wired. All the wiring, shrouding, and connectors are of the highest quality. You just wire them on to your handle bar pod switches in the headlight shell than hook up to your Battery. Nothing shows but now the light and the horn really work well because the voltage does not have to travel up into the pod switches and than back to the device powered. Only enough power to trip the relay via the switch is needed after fitting the kit. PM me if you have interest in the kit.

For us lazier types, www.easternbeaver.com sells ready made positive-earth relay kits. Put my headlight on one, installed a Raybrig 55/60W bulb (highly recommended, but sit down before you look at the price) and ye gods, it lights up the night.

Brian, Eastern builds these kits to my specs. Being three relay kits they do cost a bit more though.

Norbsa, hi. I didn't read very carefully - didn't notice you had these available, thought I was reading about a one-off project that others might find difficult to recreate.

It does look good. A Norton with a horn you can actually hear? What a concept! Wouldn't mind one of those myself.

I'm in the market for one of those now! (any recommendations greg? - year/model?) so I imagine with luck I'll be up for one of your kits soon... I hope!

Don't forget, I want one of your Commando fork kits too, if you have any left.... - BrianK

Curious here. What is the difference between motorcycle and car relays? Is it that you are using the mini relays? They sure would be easier to route than the 1" cube Bosch type. However, both my BMW's use the big ones, so I don't know that there is any performance difference. Is there?

Good looking and well made kit you have there!

Brian.Yes I still have the front end kits, And way too many A-65's.PM me.
Ron, I started with mini cube Auto relays up in the headlight with Velcro. These worked OK but it is normally crowded in the headlight anyway Do a Highrider or a Firebird BSA and it's just not possible.
So now your putting the relays under the tank and its gets wet, hot, windy, lots of vibes and movement too. Jim at Eastern worked with me to get a relay (tab less) rated for this environment. His connections are better than one can do a home practically, having water proof shrink tube and all the proper crimper's for each type of connector used. These kits have been used on 12 or so bikes of all brands and the wire ends work well for all the types. Some need some shortening for non stock applications I use the crimped on bullet connectors in these applications I have the crimping tool to do this work. See British wiring for tools and resupply's.

Anything in the works for a negative ground system? I'm a bit of an electroretard so I'll take any help I can get with re-wiring my MKIII.

Well the electrons don't care what color the wire housing is and the relay's don't care witch way round you want to push those electrons, so it would all work. Just dam confusing for anyone to trouble shoot if you had any problem installing the kit or any trouble later.

In a few months when it comes down to wiring I may hit you up. I'm starting from scratch with a complete rewire and custom harness for my MKIII. I'd be the only guy working on the bike anyway.

In case someone else ever did work on it....I could simply put some coloured shrink wrap over the original perhaps.

I recently bought one of Norbsa's relay kits and have just fitted it to my 1973 850. Before fitting I measured a few voltages. Without the engine running and the headlight on, I was getting 11.3 volts at the battery and 8.3 volts at the headlamp bulb. The 3 volt drop was causing very poor light beams. as you can imagine.
After fitting the kit I did the same test again. Now I get 11.3 volts at the battery and 11.3 volts at the headlamp bulb filament terminals. The difference in brightness is amazing.
My horn is loud,too!
This is a thoroughly worthwhile mod. Thanks as ever to Norbsa for his tireless efforts to improve our bikes and offer advice to fellow riders.

Thanks, Norbsa. Great looking kit. I am interested in one as well. I have a '74 850. How much and how would I order? Also, I noted a reference above regarding a fork kit of yours. Is there a separate posting regarding this kit? I would like to know more about it before I simply purchase Progressive springs. Thanks!
