refreshing a JPN

just about finished up on the JPN ( first photo shows two of them and the side cover parts, along with a primary inspection plug tool I made years ago. It works great for the plastic screws!)

thanks for the screws heads-up:)

went for the first ride yesterday, had a spark plug wire fall off (using the stiff originals.... you know I'm a rivet countin goof !)

The shifter is impossible to use as the kicker gets in the way of my foot no matter what the adjustment. Ordered a RGM folding kick starter , not so rivety but I'll keep the original. But it runs hard! There is no cruisin with this one! Fast, Fast!

Sure looks spiffy...
Thanks, its hard to get a decent photo, white does not show real well in pics. Maybe a well lit detail shop, would show better?

Heres a photo taken inside of when the fiberglass was regelled.

It's amazing how timeless the styling of the JPN is. I never cared for the bumstop, but those twin headlights are da bomb.

i had a soft sport for it too. but at the time the price was out of my league. beautiful bike.

..... Cool name , one of the previous owner's of my bike was Linda Snow, past INOA pres.

I was thinking about installing a Alton on it ,thoughts?

If you put an electric let on, you could remove the kick start lever and shaft, and revert to a very neat reversed gear change lever. Far more in-keeping with the JPN heritage.

If you’re buying an e start, you really should look closely at Matt’s offering, it’s exquisite! Check out the before and after clips of my installation ...

The CNW will be the one to outlast you, the Alton will work and live past its warranty period but is not as well engineered as the CNW. Its also limited to the Alton supplied alternator whereas the CNW allows the use of any Lucas alternator including 3 phase, the CNW only falls down on the clash with the std air filter.

right, I have to retain the plastic air box

As the black box filter is larger than the ham can, it would clash MUCH more than the ham can...
