My dad is in England and I've been riding around his RED 2013 SF since he left. First red bike in North America and the 5th bike in Canada with Serial number 005. Pretty cool bike no doubt. Averaging about 1.5hrs on it a day. Hitting lots of the bends I know like the back of my hand. Installed the BEST map, Motad Shorties (scratched to heck but functional - from my dads SE he layed down), upgraded Bosch coil, wires, iridium plugs, handle bar risers and of course a Transmission Vent. Tuned the THROTTLE POSITION SCREW and this thing fires up first or second time off the button. Idles perfect >>> everything as perfect as perfect can be. A real pleasure to ride. I said all that to compare what I'm about to say. My SE is exactly the same except with the upgraded leather seat, clip-ons (for now) and Everything Carbon Fiber.

It's amazing how different the two bikes are. Pushing in and out of the garage, the Carbon makes a huge difference. But then on the twisties, the carbon really shines. I feel I can make the corners effortlessly on the SE and I really have to push hard on the SF. It' funny how with clip-ons I feel like I want to pass everyone I can and give it gas at every opportunity. Whereas the SF being perched up like a bird because of the risers, I feel like taking my time.

SO all that being said. I have an all black 1977 Suzuki with a red tank which I think looks great. So I took the red tank off my dads SF and rode my bike around with a red tank for two days. It was really interesting to see peoples reactions. It was an even split of likes to dislikes. And - Like I said on the factory tour thread>> the bike is not any faster with a red tank.

Hello Richard , The low weight of the Carbon Fiber BST must really be noticeable . I'm sure it must make a difference in performance and handling as well . I think the RED on BLACK looks great , If the Tail was RED also it would look Factory !!!

For sure, the reduced un-sprung mass of the front carbon BST wheel will make a huge difference on corner turn in and suspension control.
Even a lighter alloy mag would improve handling over the standard laced weight.
Laced wheels give the classic look, but they have a negative impact on overall handling.

Something to look forward to. Oh, and I've got the red and gold too!
