Rear Light Wiring Question

So today I made the rookie error of taking apart some wiring without first looking at what was plugged into what. Stupid of me, I know. My rear left indicator was cracked so I bought a replacement pair and set about attaching them, the new pair only had a single black wire coming from each and the old pair had a black wire and an earth wire.

After reattaching and doing my best to attach the correct wires the best result I've been able to achieve is:

- Indicators working
- Brake light working
- Headlight flasher button on handlebar working
- Bike not blowing fuses
- Bike runs

This still leaves:

- Headlight not working
- Taillight not working

The key is turned to the far right position where the headlight and taillight usually come on, but no dice sadly. When I first put the key in and turned on the ignition it was blowing fuses, I realised I had an earth wire plugged into a blue wire and resolved it.

I've attached an image of the wiring in its current state, the bike is a rolling project so it isn't particularly clean or show worthy! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Rear Light Wiring Question

As the harness wires do not appear to be the standard colours this calls for a certain amount of guesswork and from the limited amount of information that can be gleaned from the photo makes it more difficult to say for certain whether anything is connected correctly or not.

According to the photo, what you appear to have, is a light blue(?) harness wire connected to a brown going to the lamp, the brown should be the brake light feed, so from what you have said, as the brake light works, we can assume-for now, that connection is correct.

Then there is a harness white connected to a black, and a harness green also connected to another black, assuming these to be the direction indicator feeds and again going by what you've told us that they both work normally then once more, it can be assumed they are connected correctly.

Then there is what appears to be a second white connected to a brown/green?
Brown/green is the tail light feed, as there is no other harness feed wire option and assuming the harness red(? or is it brown?) is the positive return we can once again assume-for now that the connection is correct and that the cause of the tail lamp not working lies elsewhere in the system if the pilot light (if fitted?) and instrument lights also don't work.

As standard, the headlamp and the tail/pilot/inst. circuits are supplied by two separate feeds from the ignition switch, so if neither circuit is working then you may need to trace both sets of wires in the direction of the ignition switch using a multitester or test bulb until you locate the faults.
If the wiring is non-standard then it's anybody's guess where the problems are.

There's a non-standard green/white plugged into what appears to be the positive/return double connector, presumably this is some kind of additional earth/ground wire? If not, then what does it connect to?
