I am putting a single coil, dual output on my Mk3. The coil has no polarity markings, so I guess as long as I power-in on one and ground the other it will be ok.
Right?
Jaydee

Yep, polarity in this case just determines which plug jumps spark form the hook to the center and which jumps opposite. You are supposed to have a coil that's ohm rating is in the range the ign unit is designed to tolerate.

Boyer ignition,12V single coil, negative ground. Can someone draw me a diagram. All information I have is for dual 6V with positive ground.
Thanks,
Mike

Use the Negative Earth Circuit Fig. 4 diagram here.
If it is an existing converted positive earth/ground system then the positive wire shown on the diagram between the ignition switch and the coil will not be red.

For a 12V dual coil connection then just imagine the two separate coils as being a single unit with no link wire.

It will be inhere somewhere

I have a dim memory that for dual coils it does not matter which way round the LT wires are as the HT current goes round in a circle, coil to plug 1, plug 2 to head, head to plug 2, plug 2 to coil. You need confirmation of this.

LAB,
I am still confused. The whole system has been converted to negative ground.Do I run the power from the switch to the negative side of the single dual outlet coil?
Thanks,Mike

I see how to run these but does the coil get grounded through the white wire? Will that be the only ground for the coil?Do I also run another ground wire from the negative side of coil to ground?Sorry for my ignorance on this

The usual type of 12V dual coil doesn't have a direct ground so connect the wires according to the Fig.4. diagram. Don't add any grounds to the coil terminals and, as mentioned in previous posts, unless the coil is marked for polarity then + and - wires can go either way.
