I have a mk2 850 with rear drum brake that I’m bringing back to life and the previous owner laced the rear with a 16” rim. I want to go back to 19” rim So my question does the MC287 rim work with drum hub?

A MC 287 looks to be a MkIII disc brake rear rim.
I was under the impression most had a MB 41 (my Mk2a did) drum brake rear rim and the MC 286 was the last of the drum rear rims but with larger diameter nipples.

It was not uncommon for Mk2s to come with Jones rear rims as.well. mine did. So you could look for one.of those too.

There are plenty of differing opinions about Commando rear rim size, you can find them which should help you decide where or not my suggestion may offer a solution.

At this stage I suggest you consider an 18" rim. Such a choice gives you more options for tires. The rolling diameter can be compensated for by selecting an aspect ratio that matches the 19" stock rim.

Best.

I guess I’m not against an 18”
Rim. I’m pretty sure Whomever put the work Into the bike before I got it was going for a chopper style and the 16” rim for my personal taste looked terrible. I really like bikes with a level look. Where would one go about getting an 18” rim with spokes and nipples?
