I have a three wire encapsulated stator. I thought all the old three wire stators were before encapsulation. What do I have? The wires are the usual green-black, white-green, and green-yellow. The rect/reg has two yellow wires for the alternator so I have to two of them together. Any idea which two wires go together or does it matter?

Pretty easy, the green one is earth, but check with muti meter against body first same on all three wires.
Other two wires connected according to colour, if you only get 6volts swap them over.

RM19 if the stator has five mounting holes and six stator poles. Three holes and nine stator poles would be 3-phase.

Yes.
Green/black and green/yellow.

"For 3 wire 6 pole alternators (6V) you can convert these to 12V by joining the green/black and green/yellow wires. The white/green will be the second leg."
