AS I wrote previously, my exhaust header broke off on a ride last week. Now I'm looking for a good set of replacements. I think I'll go non-balanced style, without the crossover. The best I have found sin the US are LF Harris pipes but they are listed for 73-74 850 MkIIA.
I don't know much about pre-75s, will these fit my 75 Mk3 as well?
TIA

I bought pair of new unbalanced headerpipes from Viking Exhausts in New Zealand and fit my Mk3 like a glove.well made and good chrome.
Kick start clears as well.
You will find the MK 2 style won't fit due to the deeper chaincase on the Mk3 ,so header pipe will hit on the under side

You may need to go to the Longer exhaust rose nut. The Mark III's I believe are shorter due to the split collar setup. You need as much engagement on the thread at the exhaust port or you will be calling up Comstock for an exhaust port repair. They are weak in this area.

850s use the same 063988 exhaust lockring. Edit: 750 lockrings may be required for '750' pipes but shouldn't be for "850 Mk2A" without the balance pipe.

850 Mk3 pipes normally have the flared ends (regardless of balanced or not) for use with the spherical seatings and collets.

850 Mk2A pipes may have the reinforced ends used with sealing washers and collets.

Yes that is the same on my 74 when I purchased it with cross over pipes. I don't know enough about the MkIII to be 100 % positive. Just what I have. My point was that if you do away with the crossover system and eliminate the split collars, Adding another 06.3995 seal washer to take up the slack is not a good idea. I use the 750 type exhaust lockrings when I converted it to single pipes. You may need to change your main jet size.

Thanks for the help. I ordered unbalanced pipes form Feckit or F*ckit or somebody like that. They talked a good game hope they fit. The first time I've bought anything with Pounds.

Now I'm trying to remove my old pipes (original) and I can't get the sleeves to slide either way. Are there any tricks or techniques that you've found successful? I've got them soaking in Kroil now. Waiting......

try the soak for 24 hrs then apply again. Let it sit. Try a strap wrench to break it loose if you have one.
