Well, the oil dipstick of a friend of mine he got this year from our Swiss dealer was even longer than the one I have since 2012. The high mark of that dipstick was about in the middle of mine low and high level marks...
Unfortunately, I still didn't get photos of this.
It might give some confusion about the measures taken. I guess your measures were all from the bottom of the threaded cap. If the thread has always the same length this should not matter.
