Pub on Motorway

I think it's a publicity stunt by Wetherspoons (it's a pub chain in the UK that keeps it's prices low by selling beer that is just going out of date, it also serves cheap food and tends to be well used by the all day drinking alkies in whatever town it is situated in. To be avoided). It's a bit like RyanAir getting cheap publicity by claiming that they are going to charge customers to go to the loo.

I agree madness.

No doubt good advertising for Wetherspoons, but what council in their right mind (o.k I'm talking hypothetically) would think it's a good idea to put the temptation of alcohol in such close proximity to drivers? Standard of driving is already bad enough. I bet the police are banging there heads against the bar, err, wall.

Here in New Hampshire USA we put state operated liquor stores on the main roads into the state, sell it cheaper than neighboring states, and make lots of money off the tourists that way. Doesn't mean they hop right in their cars and guzzle the stuff down though.

Lol, it's one of the ways we make up for having no income tax...

On the other hand, in New Orleans, LA, you can drive up to the daiquiri stand, get a rum drink in a styrofoam cup... :? :?

Don't think we even had an open container law till the early 80's here. I used to drive around with an open beer all the time....never had any trouble with it  (sometimes I still do......but don't tell anyone)
