Conservative tradition? Laughable. The Republican party exists to protect corporate interests at the expense of the working people. Liars all. End of story.
That may been true at the turn of the 19th century with the Rockefellers, Ford, Carnegie etc..But the Current Republican Party is made from a lot of small businesses.
The Republican Party stands for, Independent Self Reliance.
Big Business?? The biggest are all controlled by Dems... Amazon, Apple, Google, Nike etc etc.
Big money in politics? Who has had the bigger Poilitcal war chest for some time now??? Hint, not the GOP..

And we have a narcissistic moron for a president. TIME TO RID OURSELVES OF THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE!
Really, the best you can do. I'm a little disappointed. You only say that because your side lost.
The election process is a lot baseball. You have hits and runs. Hits usually produce runs.
But it's the runs that count......

And your boy continually strikes out. He’s batting .000. To be replaced in January, thank god.

When Trump loses the election in November he’ll be issuing pardons like a lab rat on steroids to all his fellow swamp rats.

We could go back and forth on this all day, I recognize your right as a fellow American to have an opinion and vote accordingly.

Both Dems and Reps have crooked actors. I'm not in love with Democrats but they represent the best path forward for the country. In my opinion.

All this bickering only serves our masters.
The American people deserve better than what we've got now and until we can look past our differences we will continue to be exploited.

Much respect Michael B.

While I admire your zeal, and I am a moderate democrat, your are coming across
as a very angry partisan.

And now we're hearing not one but two GOP senators dumped millions of $ of stock in Hotel and other businesses after being briefed on pandemic impact by Intelligence committees, prior to public disclosures.

This isn’t a case of differing opinions. Trump is an inveterate liar. He seems to be bereft of any knowledge of the government or the country’s history, nor does he seem to have any inclination to learn of either. He spends an inordinate amount time either at one of his golf courses, at campaign rallies, or Mar-a-Lago. Far less time in the White House than any of his predecessors. His approval rating has never been over 47%. He has been the choice of skinheads, KKK, and white suprematists groups.

Trump inherited an economy on the rebound. During Obama’s presidency the unemployment rate went from nearly 8% unemployed to 4.7% when he left office. Trump’s lowest was 3.6%. The Dow was below 8,000 when Obama took office. It was over 19,000 when he left. Trump highest was some 29,000. So, the gains in employment and the stock market were larger during the Obama presidency than Trump’s tenure. Although, Trump has managed to have the largest budget deficit ever.

They can’t help themselves. It’s in their DNA.

I think I saw it was 3 Repubs and one Dem. I'm sure there will be more, on both sides.
As bad as it sounds, I don't see the issue. They aren't necessarily doing this on their own, experts are advising them.
What would you do? Sell, or watch go away? BTW, there was no guarantee it was going to tank, it was a hunch.
This hunch worked out.
What is a much bigger concern to me is where did the original investment money come from?????????
These politicians leave office far wealthier than they entered, on BOTH sides..
How do they do that on their salary???????
I'm in favor, drain the swamp.....ALL OF THEM............

I'll bring up another issue. If these and/or congressman thought this was going to happen, why weren' they taking other measures to ward it off.

Now I remember, congress was embroiled in Impeaching Trump.
How different would things be if they were paying attention to current activities>>>>>

Uh. Are you saying Corona would not have tanked global economic markets had Congress not been impeaching Trump back in January?

Come on dude.

What you & I do is irrelevant here, we are not partial to hearing insider information on which to base our actions. If we were in the loop, then we would be subject to the relevant insider trading laws.

"The STOCK Act affirms that members of Congress are not exempt from insider trading laws and states that Senators “may not use nonpublic information derived from such person’s position as a Member of Congress … or gained from the performance of such person’s official responsibilities as a means for making a private profit.”"

Saw Grover Norquist today. He was leaving unemployment office. Heading for the Post Office, looking for his $1,000 check, no doubt.

Can't speak about the tanking, but let's look at a few facts, and feel free to correct any or add.

Trying to get on top of this, Trump issued the travel restriciton on for non ciitizens Feb 2, from China.
And he was accused of being a Racist, Xenophobe. Biden jumped all over him for overeacting.
Trump issues restrictions for travel from Iran. Again, he's a racist Xenophobe.
There's more, with congress, the media and Dem oppenents critizing and resisting every move, trying ot undermine and throw him out.

My position is how much different could it have been if all that BS wasn't going on and more was being done in a positive, non-partisan manner.

Now, after the horse is out of the barn, they are working together.......

No arguements or issues here.
As I said, it bothers me more that they ahve all this money to invest/lose.
Where did it come from. I'm sure if you chart any of their incomes, life style and net worth vs. income, it doesn't balance.

And there it is.

Unfortunately, like most Republicans, MikeB doesn't "see the issue" when laws are broken in broad daylight.

Yep. Most are independently wealthy before taking office. Some are no doubt corrupted along the way.

We have a system that invites corruption among politicians. That system is the way political campaigns are financed. Finance by donations is built for corruption. Publicly financed campaigns would go a long way to eliminating a lot of the bad things ALL our legislators engage in.

Wow, that's a general statement that's way off base as this will come home on both Dems and Repubs..
It' just not something I'm going to get worked up on. If they have done wrong, they need to suffer the consequences.

Not a big deal to me as I go by Mike in the real world but you might want to change the reference as there is a MikeB who may or may not appreciate being dragged into this..

Yes, I get it.
My real feelings are, should these people in power have access to the market at all? On BOTH sides.....
Money has a way of corrupting decisions. How many other decisions and votes are taken based on some investment somewhere. I'm sure it's rampant........
