Gents,

I know this has probably been talked about but I’ll ask anyway.

After a ride a couple days ago, I had a leak from my primary “felt seal area” that is leaving oil all over the frame. I did check for a blown seal and my primary level was good. I decided to drain the oil oil anyway and top off with the correct level so I could keep checking for a blown crank seal.

After Doing some carb tuning in the driveway I walked away and came back out after lunch and noticed oil on my frame and leaking from felt seal area. The bike only ran for couple minutes??? I checked the oil level and it’s not overfilled? Is this a felt seal or some trans seal thats possibly leaking?

The gearbox mainshaft seal would be suspect, but you should be able to tell the difference between primary oil (ATF?) and gearbox oil.

I have 20/50 as per manual in my primary. I can drain it out...I have some Harley Davidson primary oil I can put in it?

Once the felt becomes saturated, it only takes a short run to produce a leak.

My leak at the transmission shaft (felt seal) succumbed to a lip seal:

I see Rabers in California had a felt seal mod but there out of business? Is there anyone that does this felt seal modification?
