Price of Petrol ( Gas )
+ 99 ethanol free , says E5 but is apparently free of the stuff , this of course is the fuel recommend for our fuel tanks checkout the price of that per gallon ?
U.K. £7.52
U.S.A. $8.62 ( U.S. Version)
Australia $14.31

Crazy numbers! I topped up with diesel @£1.35.9 a litre - and that was cheapest around. Also LPG @ £0.79.9 a litre to fill the bottles in the motorhome. I’m hoping to get away to Spain in a week or so where it’s £1.17 a litre for diesel. It does seem not cost effective to travel 1000+ miles to buy it cheaper

And of course when I get home in a few months time all I will get is E10 petrol as we don’t get E5 in Devon or Cornwall.

Has anyone done a diesel conversion to the Commando yet? o_O

I still see E5 down here for 95 octane. 99 is all E5 so far but who knows where that will go.

Just taken the statement below off the Esso web site

"Esso Synergy Supreme+ 99 contains zero ethanol, except (for logistics reasons) sites supplied from Scotland, North Wales, North England and Cornwall."

I think legally in the UK the fuel supplies have to put E15 (or E10) designation on the pumps for legal reasons,
but the fuel can contain up tp 5% (E5) or up to 10% (E10)

And in Esso at the moment chose to put 0% Ethanol. Except specifically for Onder in Corwall :(
Onder, have you upset Esso in some way?

Wow ouch !

As of yesterday, the average price of premium fuel in California was $4.57 per U.S. gallon. The average price in the whole U.S. was $3.85. I recall that back in 1958/1959 when I was a senior in high school and working nights and weekends in a Chevron station, premium gas was around $0.25 per gallon. I was earning $0.75 per hour, which works out to earning 3 gallons/hour. Today, I would have to earn $13.71/hour to buy the same amount of gasoline. Not all that different.

Just had a quick Google on petrol prices
It said petrol in the US is approximately 43% cheaper than the UK because it's not as highly taxed

99 octane is not always on offer here in Kernow so if I go for a longish ride I had better know where my pit stops will be.
Another reason I put the Interstate tank on the 74.
And in case the petrol situation isn't bad enough we can move on to push bike warriors who have 20 car tailbacks and absolutely refuse to pull over or let anyone by. I'm still pissed off as it just happened. It went on for miles.

Considering the unknown future for 961 spares and a bad case of rim polisher's finger after riding in this damp weather I have been considering a commuter bike recently and some of the fuel figures for 600cc-900cc bikes have been surprisingly low compared to 56mpg on the 961 for a week's commuting. And that's with my large injectors and I am not exactly known for sparing the horses.... For a 'traditional' engine design I'm quite pleased with that!
