Thanks for all the info. I've decided to buy a Dremel and remove the paint from all the mounting holes before touching it up. I scraped some out of the rear iso tube and it felt hard but brittle. So am hoping it won't lift away at the edges. Am not happy having to do this, was originally going to do it 2 pak but after waiting for 3 months to get various machining jobs done the painter only had a few days to do it before shutting for Christmas. So had to decide between getting it powdercoated before then or waiting another month and double the cost. Got frame, cradle and swingarm done, still waiting for the rest so turned out to be a bad decision. Oh well, it's been 12 months so far, we've had heaps of earthquakes in the past 18 months so at least haven't had to worry about the bike getting damaged.

Good decision to buy a dremel. I just removed my powder coat yesterday with one and it is definitely needed. But, not only did it make a huge mess (I decided to do do it in my basement instead of garage) it still took me almost all day. Remember to wear eye protection and at least a dust mask (better yet a respirator) because I did, but still had powder coat dust up my nose and all over my face. I'll post some pics soon of my job.

I don't even notice where mine is painted. Don't worry about it, just get some nice thick rustoleum enamel in a can and brush it on. I did it mostly as I assembled.

Yup,I cleaned up the edges a bit to make the marks rounder and painted till 2 AM this morning. It's not completely dry but the paint is hardly noticeable. The only thing you can really see is the ridge where the powder coat starts and paint ends because the powder coat is thicker.

Some pics of the fresh paint
