I saw an ortho a month ago about my left knee. It's not only bone-on-bone but the bones are wearing. He told me I was too old and fat for him to help. Damned near punched him. I thought about suing him - you cannot tell people they are too old to receive services in the US, but I'm too busy for that so I made an appt with another ortho. That was today and went much better. Have to follow the Medicare route to knee replacement. First, steroid shot - got that today. It fixes nothing but reduces inflammation and pain. I couldn't care less about either - I'm concerned with it failing and having an even bigger problem. When that doesn't fix it, I'll get a new procedure where they inject some sort of gel. Hopefully that will tighten it and stop the wear, so I don't need a replacement. If that doesn't work, then a total replacement is called for. In the meantime, I have to do physical therapy.Stupid Medicare rules - costs a lot more than simply doing what the doctor knows needs to be done! At least none if will cost me anything other than time and continuing to hobble around for several more months. It's very annoying to pay over $2000/month for healthcare and to get jacked around! I've been paying into Medicare since 1966
