Has anyone done a pre unit triumph 5 speed conversion gearbox in a commando? I've seen on YouTube the bloke in Oz that has a couple
I'm assuming you use a commando clutch center that's modified for the triumph taper? I think RGMs sell these
Plenty of 5 speed t140 clusters come up on eBay and it doesn't look hard to fit to a pre unit shell
If anyone has done it was it worth the effort?
I'd love a 5 speed on my 750 and I've always found the triumph boxes very good
Cheers

Triumph 5 speed boxes are great when set up right.

But the pre unit shell is a weakness in bigger hotter motors, hence why Dave Nourish produced his excellent shell that took a Triumph cluster and fitted to Norton mounting points. But they’re not made any more.

My friend Rob Tuluie fitted one to his Commando back in the '80s, but I don't recall the details of how he adapted it. This is a picture of his bike with the Triumph gearbox fitted. He raced it with AHRMA for a few years, and was quite happy with the gearbox performance.

Hmmmm I didn't know that

Some more info on the Nourish conversion, along with some race experiences with it in a Commando.

Thank you
I had not seen that before

Probably irrelevant , but the Rotary / F1 case is compatable / incompatable ? to the traditional engine plates ?? .

Think theres a T 160 gearset type and a yam. type ?
