I have been considering selling my 55 AJS 18s "Touring Model" . Rolled it out to take pictures and clean her up. The more I cleaned the more I questioned why I would sell such a sweet bike. Cleaned out the carb and changer the oil, several kicks later she was running. Ordered new jets for the carb, went on line and started looking at polished SS bits...as you can tell I'm not going to sell her. Hell I have had the bike longer than I have been married.
Am I crazy?

Totally understandable John - you'd regret it for sure
Nice bike!

Nice and tidy bike, John. In my youth I owned a '54 & a '55 18S and always regret selling those. Once carb, magneto and dynamo have been reconditioned, the bikes are very dependable and will run forever.

I put an Alton "generator" on it several years ago. Had the cylinder sleeved back to standard by LA Sleeve and a new JP Piston fitted. Just ordered a bunch of shiny new bits to tart it up.

I have several old friends who own old racing bikes which other people envy. The reason we have then now is we bought them back then and never sold them. If you want to learn a lesson - sell your bike then go and look at it a year later - you will cry.
