Pipes...

The issue is with the police, not the MoT. They use the information on the registration document to determine dba level for a given vehicle 'type approval', for the 961 it's shown as 90dba@3750rpm. The police also have the authority to inspect the silencers for compliance markings, unfortunately the Norton 'shorts' are engraved 'not for road use' which is a dead giveaway. The MoT don't check dba levels so noise is down to the examiners judgement and a fail because of noise is cheap in comparison to the fines that the police can dish out.

The Norton open pipes have a plate installed that says something to the effect of "off road use" I guess that's the get around to the get around.

Got a reply back from Ollie Thiel regarding their pipes. They plan to be on the market by the end of August and yes they will ship to the US. He did comment that what cat pipes the bike has can be an issue.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

(BTW, I am not a beholder)!
I love all the other ones, but those two silencers on one side are ugly, IMHO. All seem very well made. I'm not treating by bike to any upgrades until its running properly. Well...shifting properly. She's running fabulously!!

I really like the short peashooter versions. I’d like to hear some before investing though, and be sure that, with the baffles, they’ll pass the 105db U.K. track noise limits.

Pipes look well made, but why can't they make a 2-into-1 design like this that eliminates chain rubbing and ground clearance problems.
Also, with quick disconnect spring fittings.
Just saying...

I Don't know, but it makes me very sad.:(
I would have used a crying profusely emogee if this site had one. That makes me sad too.:(

Hello Together,
yesterday i met Ollie for some beers and I saw on two bikes two different two in one exhausts.
It is a combination of the long and short exhaust.
Available for the right or left side.
The twin system looks not so ugly like on the pictures.
The short system sounds fantastic not to loud with CATS.
Without CATS little bit louder.

regards
Panetone

Panetone,

Please clarify:
Does "looks not so ugly" mean Bitchin' Cool?

No not Bitchin Cool.
"Not bad is in Germany the little sister of shit"
as longer you look as better this exhaust looks.
One of the Norton sales manager says the same.
It´s not my choice but there are some orders.
On Satuday I can have one of the demo bikes with the short two in two system for testing.
