Pictures of your Norton Commandos

Here is my 72 which I got back on the road this past August after a good going over to make it roadworthy. It handles well and runs well and starts no trouble. I am happy with it and enjoy the attention it needs to keep it reliable.

Rode my "Land Yacht" from Indianapolis to Austin TX a couple of weeks ago to watch the MotoGP. A few side trips and detours to find fun roads through Arkansas. Put on 2975 miles in 4 days of riding. Way more comfortable than the Commando.
Several bikes for different rides is the best solution.
Agreed - I have an ST 1300 for distance running but truth be told I don’t ride it much .

I don't ride the 'Wing very often. I refer to it as "my wife's bike", it's the only one she'll get on...I think the backrest and arm rests make her feel safer.
The Texas trip is the first time I've ridden it since 2018.

The blue GW in the photo had been in storage for 6 years prior to my friend purchasing it last year. It is in as new condition.
The reason for storage- 75 year old rider, 900 lb bike, balance issues with low speed maneuvering.
That must be a common theme with so many of us old guys on huge, heavy touring bikes.
I sometimes find the 215 kg MK3 Interstate to be enough bike to roll around and I have no physical impairments so far.
I can't imagine dealing with twice that weight, especially for someone with a bad hip, knee, ankle etc.

Struth. At a few months short of 80, I'm moving down to smaller, lighter bikes. The only heavy one I'm keeping is the 961, and only because it is, after all, a Norton. I find myself riding the Street Triple more often now than the 961. A 500 lb. curb weight bike used to seem normal to me, but my comfort level for pushing a bike around is now more like 400 lbs.

Ken, your 1007 will have more power than the 961, much more torque than the 961 and will weight less than 400lbs.

Jus’ sayin’…

My ST 1300 weighs in @ just under 700 lbs with a full tank . I weigh 150. It is a handful to move around and gets more difficult every year . I have only dropped it once trying to put it on the lift by myself . It went over easy and came to rest on a chair . The only damage was the mirror . I could not get it back up by myself .
I can no longer roll it backwards by myself unless it is on a smooth hard level surface . Once it is rolling it is as nimble as can be .
I have often thought of selling it but it is worth very little even though it is mint with only 12k miles on the clock .

Rich,
Wait for next year. Road up to Milford for lunch yesterday on a whim. 260 miles round trip. I already got you on speed dial.

Thanks Pete - I think it will still have a spot in my stable.Did you get lost ? Rode my GB 500 to you know where in Chatsworth today . Cholesterol, nitrates & sodium.. yum !

Ever since I destroyed my Rotator Cuff in a fall back in 07 I have a tough time pushing a bike it keeps wanting to go in left hand circles because I have very little strength in my left arm now. I always thought I would like to have a ST1300 heard good things about them. My distance bikes are a Suzuki 1000 V-Strom and a 07 V-Rod now.

My uncle used to say to my aunt:"You have two outstanding points, but I just can't put my finger on them" just to hear her say "I am going to give you a bust in the mouth"
