Wow, 450km per day, every day, for 40 days… that’s some going!

I think you chose the right bike…
Shortest day 350 km (ish), longest 900km - several days off. Vast majority good/reasonable blacktop. Generally speaking, easy going on a big adventure bike. These bikes are no doubt the most versatile ever made - mile munching with a little dirt thrown in is bread and butter stuff. Every biker should have a go on a modern big bore adventure bike at least once I think - many would be very surprised at what they are capable of.

Yes Peter , that’s my 3rd puncture in 29,000 miles , the new Michelins I have had on 3000 miles , bit of a wobble & thought I better stop , 2.5 hours wait for the recovery ( RAC ) which is good apparently, caught the bike shop just b4 they closed, left it there till next week.
Any suggestions anyone apart from carbon wheels ??
Kineo makes a Norton 961 wheel. They are spoked and look good. Are you saying if you had a tubeless tire you would not have gotten a flat or you could have plugged it on the side of the road ? HPS in the UK are a Kineo dealer .

Having a puncture on these bikes is pain,& something to plan for if your on a trip ,ideally you need to carry a couple inner tubes, at least the rear one, few dealers keep them in stock, if there is a sure way of banding the rim with one of these kits then that be great I may have a go , carbon BST wheels are like £3000 now , when I got the bike 6 years ago the carbon wheels were at £2,500 option, apart from the SE early commandos very few have the carbon wheels.
For now it’s tubes pour moir , the Michelin 5 tyre has done 3000 miles , I’ll find out tomorrow if it’s a repair or replace job.
Got another trip to wales in two weeks so gotta be prepared for a 700/800 mile weekender

Back on the road with a new rear tube , tyre ok , seaside jaunt today to Hastings on the south coast , £2 to park mind you !

Quick cruise into the hinterland on my ‘Jack Jones’ today. A more leisurely pace than when I’m chasing my riding buddy around on his Duc. Enjoyed it just as much!

Love this machine from every angle and however I choose to ride it! New boots next week!

Hey Tony,

Thanks mate, I really think the styling of these machines was pretty spot on. They are a great looking machine from every angle. That and the Norton badge being why they get so much attention of course.

It goes in for service next week and for new tyres; the mechanic will swap the rear brake resevoir for a Rizoma to match the clutch/ brake resevoirs. I’ll change the indicators for the small black bullet Rizoma’s when I eventually get around to it. I still have an order in for the ally tank when they re-start production. I’m gonna stick with the clip-ons as long as my dodgy back will allow, but will do a bar conversion eventually. We bikers like to accessorise more than our wives! You got anything planned?

Yes , I plan to install the aluminum tank from TAB II .. I have recently moved and everything is a big jumbled mess still.

Not sure when TAB will recommence. I think that they are training a welder to replace the devastating loss of their main man, at the TT. Does’nt feel appropriate to enquire at the moment.

Last weekend attended the Norton national rally. I even picked up best 961 award, which was very cool! While Jonathan was up rom Wales, we took the Dominators out to a few places, which was very cool. It also lead to an interesting failure of my lithium battery, so I've reverted to old tech for now!

First stop, Brook lands, the world oldest purpose built race track, built 1908. It's no longer complete, but you can see part of the banked track in the back ground.

The my bike refused to start:

so got a start from the AA, rode home...at which point, the bike would not start again. Earlier in the day, the battery was down to 4v, despite being on the specific charger....we had a power cut and maybe the charger was not rest during the week? I let it charge for a few hrs and it seemed to ring the battery up to near 13v and the bike started fine, so off I went to Brooklands, thinking over an hr on the road would top it up further. Nope...just died after one start where we moved the bikes from general parking to the paddock.

So, rode my Speed Triple to the fisrt eve of the Norton Rally. The next morning, out to get a standard battery and dropped home to fit it to the Norton. Back on the road again!

To celebrate, out for a spot of lunch

Before Jonathan headed home, we visuted the RAF chapel at Biggin Hill for some tea and photos with the gate guardians.
