Without the SB DS decatted pipes, the Norton sounded kind of like a stock Beemer. The sucker just has an awesome gnarly throaty growl now. Best sounding bike ever IMHO. Frankly, I'm a fan of the sound of all British vehicles, especially vintage.

I assume the pipes still get louder and lower when just switching out the stock silencers for the SB right? I'm mostly doing it for the extra 10 horsepower and torque, but a better sound is always welcome as long as it isn't so loud it kills my ears. I run a recording studio so.... I want to protect my ears, but want the bike to run as good as possible.

The sound of the SB Dominators is sweet. Loud, and sweet. I always wear 3M ear plugs when I ride my bikes. They all have aftermarket exhausts. The plugs protect your high frequency hearing nicely, and they are cheap foam so you through them away after every ride. You will appreciate the low freqency sound that these silencers produce, especially when decelerating. Like acoustical ambrosia!

These are from the day I picked it up a few months back, but I'll be doing some glamor shots soon.

I must say, that despite any problems the Norton company is experiencing your motorcycle is just a thing of beauty. It's hard to believe that a machine looking like that is almost stock and built in England.

Thanks Sam! That pic is totally stock btw. That was the day I picked it up from the dealer, just a couple days after it arrived from England. I am changing out the pipes soon, but yes, to me the 961's are the most beautiful factory-built bikes out there.
