Picking up my 961 tomorrow-It’s back and I’m Smiling

American cops were cool with me when they gave me a tug in Bath NYS ,just wanted to chat bout the bike ,in fact they kept revving the throttle themselves cause they like the sound, then a few hours later they tracked me down to my motel & gave me a police escort in their Dodge round to hang out with the local Branch of the American Legion ,all cause they’d never seen a 961, still not got over it. I’d like to think the essex rozzers have more to worry about that a couple of stainless pipes
Oh yea. Lots of old hard core bikers in them parts. Most cops aren't too concerned with modified pipes unless your wailing around the super rich parts constantly after hours.

get it de-catted and the pipes fitted along with remap, different bike. Was it a 50th model
Hi. New to the forum and just bought a 50th model. Light came on after 30 miles or so. Wondering why you asked; is this a commom problem with the 50th models?

We have to let the Euro 4 boys chime in here . There have been instances of the EML coming on . Mostly O2 sensors I have heard. Let them fill you in. I guess it goes back to dealer or Norton for that under warranty . Otherwise is bike running good ? If so I would keep driving it but make your appointment to bring it back to them.

In my case it was the 02 sensor. It came on under full throttle, and went away after a couple of switch off the engine and restarting it.. Norton replaced them under warranty, and since then : happy times ! The ECU was reflashed for the cats+shorties.
(Commando Sport Mk2 Euro4, OEM cats, Norton shorties)

Yes it has happened to a few of us, mine had to go back early because it kept cutting out whilst riding but if you just have the light i would ignore and put the 600 miles on it and get it all sorted at first service. De-Cat, new pipes, remap, sensors if needed etc. Saying that, you need Norton to tell you that so the bike is still covered by warranty as book says you should report any eml lights

Bike seems to be running well. I was planning to take it to the factory for the first service anyway. Just don't want to do it any damage in the meantime.

Afternoon. I'm the technician at Norton Castle Donnington. Unfortunately with any warning light I cannot advise you to continue to ride it.
As others have said, it may be mundane but it is not something I would advise to ride on and risk waiting for the first service. By all means call me on 01332 811988 ask for Ash and we can discuss options.

Cheers.

Ash,
It might be quicker to send Bill a PM as that will go directly to his email.
He is planning to ride to Donnington for Friday, so possibly tomorrow?
John
