I had the great good fortune to spend some time with Peter Williams yesterday at the Classic Car & Bike show. He was there on the Norton Owners Club stand to promote his recently released book as well as the first of his beautiful monocoque racer recreations (he's doing a limited edition run of them). We talked about my time as a GP engineer (with Lucky Strike Suzuki and Kevin Schwantz), as well as various other things. I already knew that he was a kind, thoughtful and humble man, but it was lovely to confirm it in person. I bought a copy of his book (which he kindly signed) - I'm only a couple of chapters in, but so far it's been a delightful read. He showed great interest in my hillclimb racer (http://www.foxonic.com/harley.htm), so it's with great interest that I wait to see if he comes back to me with any feedback. Sometimes they say you shouldn't meet your heroes - I now know that can be wrong!

Edited to add: Here's a link to his book: http://www.peterwilliamsmotorcycles.com/

I totally agree. Meet him down in NZ about 8 years ago and he is a real gentleman.
