Peripherial Neuropathy

Aspirin works better than anything, but it gives me ulcers. In general I don't care for pills much.
Aspirin is the only non-narcotic pain reliever that does anything for me, but I almost died of a bleeding ulcer so I'm careful about it now. I was taking lots of plain aspirin when I got the ulcer. Today I use enteric coated and never take without food. I only use it when things are bad and I try 325mg wait a while to see if another is required. Often one takes the edge off enough to live with.

Not sure if it would help with your problem but I absolutely love steroid injections in my feet. Within 1 hour I'm in "superman mode" and it lasts for about 48 hours. No pain anywhere, energy, sleep not needed (and mostly not possible), and eat way to much. Of course they are overall bad for you but life is WAY better for those 48 hours! Oral steroids are even better, but I won't take them or any narcotic pain killers - I would become addicted for sure!

I wouldn't mind trying some cannabis, I'm sure my GP would not agree, I do live in Virginia, as it is. Although the state legislature has rolled over to more progressive lately. We'll see if it continues. I did try some 'pressure point' therapy a few years ago, but got nothing from it. I probably wasn't expecting much.

My feet and legs were pretty bad this morning, but I just pressed through it, I did get about 4 things done around the place, fixing the sickle bar mower on the JD2020 and some yard mowing, plus finished up cooking some onions for soup, all before I had a few spoons of ice cream with a hit of Jamesons. That seems to do about as good as anything, but I'm sure the docs wouldn't agree. I did try some 'Aleve' this morning, it did nothing. I actually think Tylenol works better. Asprin works better than anything, but it gives me ulcers. In general I don't care for pills much.
Go visit Matt's shop. It is in CO after all...

You have to find appropriate exercises and then spend 30mins or so everyday doing them. Its not a one off thing.

Donot know about your local US laws ,certainly something to take into account regarding cannabis. but it is not addictive. the worse side effect is probably thatyou will want to upgrade your hifi.. a very expensive undertaking

anyway best wishes with pain control

As i understand it smoking Cannabis is the worse thing you can do with this plant. Why? The smoke gives out a lot of different smells /fumes of which 9 are classed as toxic.
Far, far better to just bake it in your cakes. :)

My son has very bad neuropathy , brought on (we think) by an element in anasthetic that did some nerve damage , however he also did snowboarding and landed on his tail a bit. I have some spine damage from lots of life accidents but find that 2 walks a day over rough terain (exercise !) Keeps me pain free and mobile ,although it takes a week of pain if I leave it off for any reason.

Yeah, I do need to get out and walk more. It keeps my neck from getting stiff too. I do some stretching exercises the PT person gave me pretty faithfully, it does help, but it's not magic. I just wish there was some magic thing but don't think it's going to happen. Just keep moving. I actually think Virginia is talking about allowing 'medical Marijuana' but it's not going to happen real quick. One of my neighbors lives in DC too, but he's a lawyer and I wouldn't ask. I'm sure the wife wouldn't approve. Alice B Toklas brownies.

My doc , took my wife aside and explained exactly how to get the stuff that helps health in pot out and into butter ... then you can use the butter a lot of different ways .... Jo marked the choc-chip cookies : x , xx, xxx ... the triple x box made everything okay ! For a while at least .... that was before you could buy it legal from Gov. or semi-legal from First Nations who have better selection and prices .....

So sorry for you folks living in restrictive states/nations. What used to be "pot", then "cannabis", is now THC infused candies or cookies
with measured amounts of the THC (the part that gets you high). It is very refined and clean leaving behind the unsavory aspects of
burning vegetable matter. Putting cannabis in brownies or cookies is not a very scientific way to dose yourself. In my community there
are probably 10 licensed cannabis shops. A tin of about 20 small gummies each containing .5 milligram of THC (enough to take the
edge off of pain but not enough to make you silly or hungry) costs about $17 US. You might want to upgrade your musical delivery system.
The millennials have made a science of genetically joining various strains of cannabis yielding enough THC to make an elephant get
the munchies and fall down laughing; so strong that merely smelling a ripe bud will get one high. Oh, I live in California. What would you expect?

My story above was from 20 yrs ago , now in our small town we have one gov. dispensary , plus First Nations on town edge have 12 places open , I use the spray , very little THC , lots of CBD , 2 sprays in back of throat at night keeps Doc away ... the bottle was $47 I think will last me 8-10 wks ..... FN products similar , just not as well packaged , and no oversight .... some dabble in that other form of cannabis , known as Hash , so far the law has mostly left them alone ..... that could change at any time ....

Since walking has gotten more painful now I've gone back to using the recumbent exercise bike. It seems to help with the leg and foot pain to some degree too, better than the neuronton that made me feel stupider. Maybe it's a matter of keeping the legs strong and the nerves energized. But with all my back/nerve problems I just don't seem to be able to get my legs/feet much better than a certain level. I can hardly do 5-10 heel raises on my left foot, the nerves are so shot. That's the leg I had drop foot with.

Apparently THC is available in VA. There's a store in Manassas but you have to get some quack's prescription which probably costs $300 and then a 'medical card' for $50 that allows me to buy the stuff at the 'dispensary'.

I did try that pressure point therapy for about 2 months. It just didn't do anything that I could tell. Plus the teacher was all into 'essertial oils' and incense with all the smoke and mirror stuff. I did get enough out of the classes to do it myself without all the extraneous stuff.

I lived with pain from injuries for several years. I did not use pain killers. If you adjust to pain, it will diminish. The problem is the effects of pain are very subtle. It seems to undermine your psychology, even when you don't really feel it. After I had my knee operation, it was not about pain, but my outlook on life was different. Even after 40 years, I can still feel my dislocated collar bone. I know I have it even though the pain has gone.

Yeah, it comes and goes. Today it's mostly come. But it's after 5 and the sun is over the yardarm. I just need to keep my legs strong so I don't end up in a wheel chair, even if it hurts to walk.

To me it feels like weakness entering. Today I could hardly stand walking around the hardware store. I couldn't wait to get home to sit down. At least I got the Miata out and it still works with the top down, but I notice the inspection is up this month so I gotta do that. The WX is getting good enough I may put some 112LL in the Norton and take it up to the PO and back, at least. It's been awfully cold and windy this spring.

Would that include MEK? Methylene Chloride?
No, hexane is a chemical on its own, you can come across it when mixed into thinners etc which are mixes of chemicals. MEK and Methylene Choride are also standalone chemicals so pure versions will not include Hexane. Before using any chemical it pays to read the MSDS which has to include the full list of ingredients, the issue is that some chemicals are renamed in mixtures so consumers cannot see what's really in it, but a google of the name will reveal the proper name.

Thank you.
Unfortunately, in the 70's and early 80's, my employer regarded OSHA as a small town in Wisconsin. (Pretended it didn't exist)

Yep, I resemble this remark. Walked the car lot selling cars 12-14 hours a day and danced the tango 4 or five days a week. Wrecked my feet and legs. My path to healing began when a tango teacher introduced me to Yamuna balls and exercises https://www.yamunausa.com/. That took care of the plantar fascitis. I then became religious about yoga and lost 40 pounds. The thing that really helps my legs is riding a bicycle. I don't have to ride it a lot, 20 - 30 miles a week is enough, but I can't walk if I don't.
Sitting sucks, do as little of that as possible. Good luck on the healing path.

I was a heal striker. Helped to learn how to walk on the balls of my feet.

I was told that the issue is brain does not recognise legs.. so i cannot stand and retain balance..however cycling is fine presumably because brain accepts a positve location for ones' groin.. So it is reassuring that there is nothing wrong with balance per se. If youhave feet problemsthen presumably the brain willbe cut off from vital sensory information...

I have also found using a walking machine helps keep the neural pathways open... mine is place infront of a hifi so can use music at same time...

what was that saying ? when the going gets tough the tough get going...

My feet are getting so numb, I can't feel the gas pedal in my truck. I'll probably have to quit driving before I quit riding.
