 Hi guys, please to meet you !!
i have a 850 mkII and i rebuilt it since longs years... but i think that a nice sound will soon coming !! My last difficulties are about electricity :i change the electric beam the bike had Boyer cdi but i have pb to connect the coil and especially with the four connection between the 2 coils (not on the coil) i think that one of this 2 pieces is a lucas rectifier ...do i need to connect these 2 system with the beam and the coil with a boyer on the bike ? if yes can you send me the diagram of cable and color ?
Excuse me for my english ...i' m french and nobody is perfect !!!!
Thanks to you and best regards

Welcome Jean-Yves,

Sorry, but I think some meaning has been lost in translation?

I do not really understand your reference to "I change the electric beam" (reverse the polarity maybe?) or "pb" (contact breakers maybe)?

You said "I have pb to connect the coil and especially with the four connection between the 2 coils (not on the coil) i think that one of this 2 pieces is a lucas rectifier"

I can only think you mean the 2CP condenser pack (rubber block?) and the ballast resistor (white ceramic block?) which are normally placed between the coils?
If you are removing a Boyer ignition, and refitting contact breakers (points) then you will need to reconnect those two items.

This is the Lucas rectifier which would normally be placed behind the left cover panel on the frame plate close to the battery, not between the coils: http://www.britbikespares.co.uk/USERIMAGES/610135.jpg

I apologise if I have misunderstood you.

I suggest that you type in your own language, as we have French speaking members here who may be able to help with a better translation?

RE:Electric Beam with a boyer

Thank for your answer, you're right the 2 pieces are the condenser pack and the ballast resistor (and i don't want to reverse the polarity...)

So if i understand ,these 4 or 5 contacts (on ballast and condenser) are no connected with a bike with boyer cdi....there a lot of cables i must take of some of them...I have an electric diagram with cables colours notified...with patience i must achieve my wonderful cafe racer!!
Thanks a lot..for your precision.. :)
If somebody have an adresse with pics or magic solution thanks!!

Yes that is correct, the condenser pack and ballast resistor are not connected if a Boyer ignition is fitted.

Maybe you do not have a copy of the Boyer fitting instructions?

Hi Jean-Yves, I am not too sure if you are fitting or removing a Boyer, but I have included a Boyer diagram for Positive earth +

Wires that don't go anywhere are a fact of life with a Commando. Best to get used to that or make your own harness :D
