after a couple of months of searching for a very elusive stumble and rough running, naturally suspecting the dual amals, I discovered what it was. On the pick up plate in the housing there are 4 binding posts. The screws are micro screws going into plastic so I am very careful when tightening. After a couple of years they had backed off by about half a turn andd, while the bike would start and run it would not do it well. I used a little Deoxit-5 and carefully tightened them again and 2 months of head scratching was over.
 
It's so rewarding to find the culprit!

Goes to say; 85 % of carburetor problems are electrical.

Much the same with Boyer ignitions. Fractured wires from the pickup coils cause a misfire. Soldered wires do not tolerate vibration. Put away that soldering iron and grab the crimpers.
