When you start putting sensors all over road race motorcycles, you can easily end up with data for ten major variables which affect performance. Most human beings are good at recognising patterns, but can only visualise a four dimensional space. Computers can handle multivariate data which represents many more dimensions. Some engineers handle data by inspecting and speculation. A systematic approach is often better. :
