I buy and sell lots of parts. For the most part, USPS Priority Mail in the US is being delivered on time. However, there are some distribution centers that seem to always have problems. It seems if the Philadelphia center is involved that 2-3 extra days are required for 2-day shipping. Also, I bought something from a guy in Terrell, TX and it got from there to the Dallas center in four hours. He sent is using Priority Mail - 2 Day. It's now been "in transit" to the local Virginia center for four days and I bet it's still sitting in Dallas! This is the second problem I've had with the Dallas center.

When you buy from the UK, and it goes through New York customs, by mail or DHL, no problem. Heaven forbid it goes through the Cleveland center - the customs is almost guaranteed to be screwed up and once fixed, it often takes a trace to get it moving again! BTW, if charged customs for motorcycle parts from the UK, it's wrong - they are duty free. If shipped by DHL, PM me if you have that problem and I'll tell you how to fix.

So, a lot of patience is required with shipping right now!

Update: It took 4 days and 1 hour to go from Dallas to Dulles Airport in VA. Then under 4 hours from Dulles to Merrifield to Annandale to the carrier who will deliver this morning. Since it went to Dulles airport it's clear that it flew from Dallas so it simply sat in Dallas for more than 3 days waiting for a flight. Most likely if the seller had shipped ground it would have been here sooner and certainly would have cost less!

I had a two package order shipped from the UK. One of the packages missed it's flight (i believe in Philly). Seriously, that's what the shipping company told me (i thought it got held up at customs). I think it was in the airport bar and lost track of time

I recently had a m/c part shipped USPS from 100 miles north of Cincinnati; it went first to Columbus Ohio, then to Puerto Rico for two days then to Anchorage Alaska for four days. It made it from Alaska to Cincinnati in 24 hours! Gotta love 'em!

WTF??!!

I had an Amal order go to customs in Cleveland, get improperly charged duties. I got it fixed - but instead of the normal two hours, it took four days and then it was sent back to the UK where some smart clerk saw that it should not be there and sent it back to Cleveland were it sat for two days before being sent back to the UK, where again a smart clerk knew it was wrong and sent it back to the US, but this time to New York - it was delivered the next day. That was a combination of DHL and Cleveland Customs screwing up repeatedly.

i ordered a few small odds and sods from Revival Cycles at the start of Jan.
6 - 10 days delivery via USPS supposedly, but so far 38 days and counting.
It cleared Chicago International Distn Centre on Jan 13th, and again on Jan 21st and has been a ghost since.
I have used USPS from CNW a number of times and they have performed outstandingly up until now.

Use Youship from the states these days, slower than previous but they seem to be getting capacity.

Last October I shipped a part with the USPS from SW Virginia to somewhere in Texas (I don't remember exactly where). According to tracking, it left VA quickly, then stopped somewhere. Tracking said "In transit, arriving late". It stayed like that for 12 days. I was looking into filing a claim. It has to be 15 days from ship date to file a claim. Turns out that's a long winding road also. First I had to create an account with the USPS. Then I found they required a jpeg file to be filed on line which showed the value of the lost item. I was looking into getting the required data from ebay when it started moving again and finally got delivered. Of course the buyer left feedback saying shipping was slow. I have used Fedex since.

Imagine the frustration us poor buggers in AUS go through. if i order parts from America i can wait for up to a month for them to arrive, usually via UPS. The last bits i ordered (ARP Head Studs) Took almost two months to get here. Parts ordered out of England usually arrive in less than two weeks, last order was a swing arm from Andover, it was here in nine days. The lenghty delays from the states can certainly blow out build times thats for sure.

A note on the ARP head studs, some suppliers are selling these as a kit for well over $100 US, they are available from an ARP supplier an the states for about $10.00. Shopping around saves $$$$.

When you said you got ARP head studs,, I assume they are for a Norton, If they are what is the ARP part number, so I can order some. Thanks Carl H

6 days from the Philippines to MA with a complete front brake setup using DHL. 26 days from Indiana to here for a small USPS “PriorityMail” flat rate box. All in all, I would rather entrust important deliveries to UPS or Fedex. They actually know where the package is, and also actually care.
