I replace these at a rate of 1 every year. I picked up a thicker one from an early Commando but it is too small. I guess it is difficult to make a rubber o-ring which doesn’t crack and break in today’s atmosphere.

I got frustrated and used some elastic shock cord tied into a loop when mine broke most recently. (Purchased loose at REI by the foot for outdoor stuff...) So much nicer, IMHO.

Durability shouldn't be a problem if you choose an O-ring made of the proper material. Remember, there is not _one_ type of rubber polymer. Much crap is being made in Asia nowadays.
Be sure to ask for branded O-rings made of EPDM.

I got my o-rings from the usual suppliers, Waldridge, AMC spares or Andover.
Where can I buy just one or two EPDM o-rings?

If an O-ring fixing failed which was sourced from AN, you should complain to them. Maybe they need to review their supplier and the material spec.

There are specialist suppliers of O-rings who will supply any kind of size and quality. I am sorry not being able to name a stateside supplier (I am in Europe). What's the size of the genuine O-ring p/n 027137 which you pictured in #1 I guess? Please state rubber cord diameter and O-ring diameter.

You may want to try this supplier: https://www.allorings.com/Metric-O-Ring-Size-Chart

While EPDM has very good strength and UV resistance properties, it doesn't like fuel spills, so if you can't avoid spills (jumping with your P11, are you? ) I would select a fluorelastomer material such as Viton. It's a bit expensive though.
