DId a wonderful 150 mi. ride. Going this morning was quite aggressive. Averaging 5K rpm. Coming home, end of a holiday weekend, just kept up with traffic since I don't know who's been drinking at their BBQ or not. Anyway, me arse hurts. Think I'm going to do a custom seat over the weekend. Been thinking black suede with the Norton logo sewn into the seat with gold thread with a nice gel pad stuffed under it. Something similar to this gent's.

Take it from me, on a long ride, you will still get the despatch riders favourite agony –a numb bum :!:

Curtis,
I know the 961 riding position isn’t optimal, but my CR actually isn’t bad for me. I was surprised after my first ride how comfortable I felt. It’s no long distance touring machine, but when I think back to some of the horrible rides I owned it’s pretty good for what it is. The 996 Ducati had such a forward lean my shoulders would ache for days after a 100 mile trek. My old GSXR1100 was simply a back breaker. Long stretch to the bars, very low seat, very high pegs. I used to think it was Japan’s revenge for WWII.
When you get your new seat let us see what it looks like. It sounds pretty neat. I might be interested too.
Regards

Ha. I can't believe I wrote "over the weekend." I meant over the winter. Actually, I don't think the bike overall is uncomfortable, its not. Just the corners of the seat front dig into my tendons. I suffer from a touch of sciatica and have scoliosis, so I get a little sore regardless. Its a good riding position for me. I really do like that seat in the video though. I'm sure we've all seen it a hundred times already while we were waiting for our rides.

My Corbin custom seat is wonderful. Could not sit on the stock unit for more than 30 minutes. Only downside is that it is completely custom. Took the bike there and they made it to fit while I waited.

Looking at the YouTube seat, it doesn't look particularly well padded to me. The Corbin seat is narrow at the front, but very well padded. And, it forces you more forward on the bike and forces a more balanced, neutral spine position/posture.

After a 550 mile round trip (in one day) to get the first service at RPM Cycle in Dallas I decided it's time for a seat upgrade, its in the mail today to Astech seats in Indiana for a gel and memory foam job.

Please let us know how you (and your butt) make out Trevor!

Finally got out for a long run and put the Asstech modified seat to test. After a 4 day camping trip riding 860 miles through the Texas hill country (including the twisted sisters) I can say the modified seat is a great improvement ,after one 300 mile day I was a little uncomfortable but nothing like the pain with the stock seat. Still some room for improvement but I'm happy with it.
