Hello,
I purchased a spare o/c off ebay this week. 06-0722
It came w/o a kicker bush.
Have a new Andover Norton one in the bag.
I went to check fit of the bush and found it just drops into o/c w/ very little friction.
I thought these had to be set in place after case was heated.
Is the case shot or can it still be used?
I wanted to send it to Mike at AMR and have the Modern lipped seals
installed like the MK 111 case.
The problem is I don't want to invest machining time in a bad case.
I've never played w/ these so don't know if I'm over looking a simple fix.
Shifter bush is rock tight .
Thanks

Provided that the housing is sound then it should be useable. If it's a sliding fit then Loctite or similar bearing retainer should provide a solution. The other alternative is to machine an oversize bush or copper plate the OD of the original.

Best thing before you start is probably to talk to the person that you're intending to go to for the O/S conversion.

Found mine to be one stubborn little bugger. I ended getting a hack saw blade and cutting through the bushing to release it's fit pressure in the cover. Then used a Harbor Freight blind bearing puller to pull it out. Didn't use any heat on installation. No doubt there is a proper tool to do the pulling with.

Mine were in there pretty darned tight. Took some threaded rod, a couple washers and nuts, and I had an improvised puller that worked a treat in getting them out (and the new ones in).

Thanks for the replies
The AMR shop will do the conversion so I'll call Mark and see what he thinks.
I hope he can use it. :!:
