$15 more. So double. Which to me would have been worth it although I survived.

OK I can get it back on track, The package arrived about 10 days after shipping DHL. So that's a bit better but still they are a little slow also at times. All this is just fine with me, being retired makes life much more laid back these days.

It's also a bit slower to me as I live outside of two towns, one is 10 miles away and the other is 8 miles. One has 1 traffic light the other has 0. from those towns the big city, Cortez is another 10 miles away and the other about the same. lol I live in between the two towns in which one of them the 2009 rally was. Quiz?

Congratulations on your retirement and making the move! Off the top of my head, I'd say you landed somewhere between Mancos and Dolores. Nice area! I don't get over there as much as I would like, although I'm not too far away now, on the other side of Wolf Creek Pass. Still, it's about 200 miles over there and I've been staying pretty close to home these days.

Well, back to lurking.

Great to hear form you Debby, we missed you at the Elma rally. Your right we are on highway 184, we fell in love with this area at the Echo Basin rally and moved here a couple of years ago. Hope all is well. Now I have highjacked this thread, lol lol.

If there was a championship lurker award I know who I'd give it to.

Andover sent me a shipping notice today that listed ordered items, only stated or implied the order shipped today, no tracking info.
I have always been happy with items received, and always surprised when order shows up as i have forgotten about it.

Just got a package that i ordered late Fri night (roughly 5.5 days including a weekend). Not bad

I have had good experience with AN delivery, until lately. A small order took almost 3 weeks to arrive. Normally I get it in a week or less. Also, they ship larger orders with a service that allows tracking. The small order did not have this service, so I was left wondering till it finally showed up.

I have some other comments about the AN website:
1) They recently added Triumph parts to the site. I sometimes find this useful, but I am only working on Nortons so it mostly gets in my way. e.g. I have to scroll down 2 pages in their 'Browse by Model' dropdown menu before I get to get to the Commandos; and when I use search, now I have to take the time to sort through a bunch of Triumph parts as well to find what I am looking for. The top of the webpage has tabs for 'Norton Parts' and 'Triumph Parts' but clicking one does not seem to filter the other out.
2) I think it is an improvement to include the quantities required for parts, but I find that the addition of this information in the drawing section can make it very busy up there sometimes. I think it is enough to just include it in the detail description.

In any case, worntorn is right. Maybe its better to not make it so easy for me to buy stuff!

Just thought I would comment how 'Norton' does come up first now, as it should.
Thanks AN...

Since I work on Norton and Triumph and I was never on the right page at AN, I made links to each page I frequently use on my desktop named so I know where they go. For instance, one each for 72, 73, and 74 Norton; Triumph 500 1970, and the various Triumph 650/750 pages. I have all parts manuals but find the AN site to be much easier to use than the actual manuals.

I just hope AN gets Triumph parts stock to the level they have Norton. It is rare that I have any problem with anything ordered from AN, can't say that about most Triumph parts sellers and so far, the Triumph parts I've bought from AN have been correct.

Last week, ordered Tuesday, arrived Friday.
Good to know, last time I ordered parts from Europe it took me two months to finally get them to my door. With most of that time stuck in the USA. I haven't needed to order from Andover, and was reluctant to take the risk and would rather pay a little more to get the same parts from a USA source.

How does the 06-5818 Mk IIA chain guard differ from the 06-4837 Mk III item?

The (Mk2 and Mk2A) 06-5818 chainguard has the drum brake lining inspection slot.

The Mk3 reverted to the previous 06-4837 chainguard (with extension holes) as the Mk3 has a rear disc brake, therefore, the slot wasn't required. The 06-4837 chainguard was introduced on the 850 Mk1 in mid-73 so wasn't Mk3 only.

It depends on the month the Mk2a was built to what it has as far as the chainguard (and brake backing plate) fitment.

Early Mk2a's (starting late 1973 ) have the chainguard as per the Mk1, when the modified brake backing plate was introduced in 1974 so was the chainguard to suit that on both Mk2 and Mk2a ongoing production.

What with Old Britts and Fair Spares retiring, Jeltz has finally ordered direct from the mothership. A small order to test the waters shiped via Royal Mail MP1 (tracked, 7 days worldwide). DHL was almost 3x the costs. I'll letcha know.

Looks like my fellow Norton owners have picked Old Britts pretty clean. They're showing 0 inventory on a lot of common items. Good work :)

Royal Mail has taken me a month or more. :(

Don't be surprised if someone picks up the Norton slack in the US.
