Ordering from Andover Norton (2020)

S/N would be the best way I think, and then listing pictures of both parts. My truck has that issue and only some of the parts are such. So the only way to order is by using the s/n.

Unfortunately, the bikes were not produced in strict serial number order; and, often it's is not known when a change was made by date or serial. Also, MK1/MK1A were made at the same time as were MKII/MKIIA.

Never had a clue it was that bad, I suppose warning people when they are ordering parts for those models might help.

Whilst we would like to despatch within 24 hours this is currently impossible with our pickers hampered by our in-house rules regarding safety distances and the odd team member off in quarantine.
Add to it we are presently absolutely flooded with orders. Though the new ordering and shipment calculation system briefly accelerated shipping to the 24 hour target with the number of incoming orders and the safety precautions we are slower yet again, sorry!
In any case our primary target is not fast shipping but shipping a quality I want to fit to my own Nortons. No use to get a part very fast that then costs you no end of time to make it fit the bike or that is a total failure altogether, either not fitting or breaking quickly in use due to incorrect manufacture, say a casting where a forging was originally specified with good reason.
1st time ordered from AN; ordered Mon 4/20 & received Mon 4/27. Great service, everything received.

Over the last year I have ordered from A-N numerous times and have been very pleased with the prompt order-filling and quick shipment. I see no reason to go with any other vendor 90% of the time. The fact that they are still open and shipping shows their dedication to their customer base.

However, my last order was filled on March 19th and shipped on March 23. 2020. I sent a note after about a month requesting a tracking number as I had not received the shipment. The prompt reply I received was that there was no tracking number. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the order to arrive.

I am hopeful that the order is still in transit. With the current pandemic conditions my mail within the USA is erratic. So late shipments given international shipping is very understandable – short of workers and overworked conditions.

I still think A-N as my primary source – just not sure if I should re-order as riding season is here and I need the parts I ordered in mid-March.

I’ve got two orders from England (not from Andover or Norton parts) and it’s taken a long time. Seems to be hit or miss with a lot of miss.

Hang in there, I also placed an order but on March 20th and it was shipped on the 24th. I sent an e-mail to them on the 3rd week as it has never taken more than a week or so in the past, I waited knowing things are slow and understand it's out of their control. They said if it didn't show soon they would take care of it. Parts showed a couple days later and all is well. They have been great and always given top notch service and parts since 2006 for me.

It is working both ways right now. I have had a parcel sitting in Miami waiting to come to NZ that was shipped March 26.

Me too. I bought stuff from Andover and Goffy that were here in a week. A recent order from a UK eBay vendor is taking a looong time.

My last order to Andover shipped Apr 9, arrived three weeks later. It’s not AN just slowness in the delivery process. Hang in there the shipment will come.

We didn't put this note up heading our webshop for fun:
"We are also experiencing longer transit time to all areas."
That is, unfortunately, currently a common problem.

I’ve got an eBay order that’s a month old that hasn’t shown up. That’s might longest currently.

We're not complaining about AN, nobody does it better than you guys. Nobody. Even here in the US, postal mail is way behind normal. I've had "Priority Mail", which is guaranteed 3 day service in the lower 48 take a week. I subscribe to Amazon Prime which is supposed to be 2 day shipping and they've been quoting a friggin month to deliver stuff that's IN STOCK in the local warehouse. It is what it is.

I just checked my Mar/Apr eBay orders that were shipped by USPS Flat-Rate Priority mail. I shipped 100% within 24 hours. All were estimated as 1 to 3 days for delivery. About 80% got there on time. One took an extra 11 days! The rest took 1 to 2 extra days.

One of my non-eBay orders shipped Priority mail, was delayed 9 days:

April 11, 2020, 5:28 pm
MERRIFIELD VA DISTRIBUTION CENTER

April 20, 2020, 2:41 pm
PONTIAC MI DISTRIBUTION CENTER

That normally would have been less than 24 hours!

My last AN order what shipped quickly, but got hung up in US customs which caused a 5-day delay.

My last Wassell order was slightly slower than usual, but the shipping cost was MUCH less than usual as they used DHL rather than the courier they usually use.

Amazon seems to no longer respect two-day shipping. Most things are coming slower. I was always amazed when I ordered something Sunday night and it was delivered Monday afternoon - that's gone.

Indeed. And I pay them $120 per year for that 2 day service, which increased by $20 from last year. I'm sure the virus stuff is affecting them too - maybe they're busy shipping face masks - but to quote a month delivery on an item that's in stock 45 minutes from me is pissing me off.

Placed an order from AN last Monday, shipped Friday and arriving today.

I have never had shipping or order issues with them. Once had a delivery here the NEXT DAY, from England.

Have always been impressed with their service and product. Couldn't imagine having to hunt down parts elsewhere...
