only in America bagger racing

Take a good look at those bikes at the starting line, their geometry is not stock.
They are lifted, floor boards removed..........
Yup, lifted up, raised pegs, etc.

And they’re hanging off like teenage gymnasts !

I wish we could all get together on the same race circuit. We would have some fun. That steering geometry thing is very unusual. I always thought it might be possible but never expected to achieve it.

If I was going to road race a commando, I'd check the rakes is 27 degrees, fit Dominator fork yokes and an adjustable hydraulic steering damper, re-balance the crank to 72 %. But that stuff about the head steady affecting the handling makes me feel sick. So I probably would never go there.

Poke fun all you want guys, this is going to be big.
The bagger guys take their rides very seriously, and they spend a TON of money on them.

Obviously, these bikes are far from stock.
Stock dimensions listed are.

Indian Challenger
Ground Clearance
5.4 in (137.3 mm)

Harley Street Glide
GROUND CLEARANCE
5.3 in.

Not so with those bikes.
The forks appear to be extended, looks like 17" SS front wheel/Tire, shocks certainly extended, who knows what the rear wheel combo is.
Who knows what frame mods are done.
This is just the beginning....

Anyone remember the sportster 883 challenge. Watched Lee Gourlay at Oulton. Going into the right hander it at the end of the start finish straight it flexed like it had a hinge in the middle. Huge buck whilst cranked over the bike walked! Lee came off there & Jack Burnicale said "trying to hard" I was told that the gearbox broke! But then it seemed to every other meeting.
As long as there is noise one make racing can be good to watch & fun to do. A grid full of Commandos would be fun.
Best races for me were both at Lydden hill.
Citreon 2cv racing! The original pig on a roller skate. Coloum change body nearly attached to the chassis pure madness.
Madder still Scooter racing 10inch wheels knees in the breeze fast & terrifying.

Watched 2CV racing at Mallory Park over 20 years ago, all I can say is that I rather watch paint dry, at least it would get exciting if a insect landed on wet paint !

Sometimes when you crash, the motorcycle jumps on you. Two-strokes are nice to race. Even a Commando can do you a bit of damage if you end up under it. But there is an old saying - 'some things are so bad that they are good'.

Not sure how this is going to be any comfort to a rider having a 550 lb H D landing on top of him/her !

In Australia truck racing is quite popular. Personally I cannot see anything in it, but there is an historic racing car class which is good to watch - Group N Touring Cars - the 70's muscle cars run in it.
We used to have a motorcycle race class for 883 Harley Sportsters, but it died from lack of interest. If it had been open to other big four-stroke twins, it might have become very good. The main problem is that when a new race class is devised, it is always about what bikes should NOT be included - never about getting full race grids and as decent competition.

Truck racing goes on in the UK to, once you have removed the engine regulator restricting the top speed to 55 mph, but those big heavy metal diesel chargers can do an awful lot of damage to the track. Not sure of the 883 racing in this country anymore since the lockdown, battle of the twins racing was v. Popular. It's like any racing class it can wax and wane according to the position of the moon, the state of the tide at London bridge e.t.c.

It seems silly to me, to race something like that. It simply dilutes the funds' pool. Any form of road racing is expensive. Those guys might do better to get together and devise a BOTT race class which would cater for their urge. 'Because I can' is never a good reason for doing anything. Getting full grids at race meetings is the race organisers' dream. It makes racing cheaper for everyone. In Australia, our tracks are licenced by the controlling body for about 30 bikes on the grid. I've seen historic races with four bikes. - Not really efficient use of track time.

More like 750lbs + for those bad boys.

Very painful !
When people watch road racing, it is always better if they can fantasise about being in the middle of the fray. That is the reason V8 supercars are popular in Australia. The kids who watch it, own that sort of rubbish. One of the things I cannot bear to watch is go-kart racing. It means absolutely nothing to me. And truck racing is an abomination.
There is one form of car racing which really confuses me, it is called 'drifting'. The guys get points for going around corners sideways. - Like 'WOW 1 , far out, Man !' ?

An NVT Easy Rider series, that's what we need to get the brand back into the public eye..... No??

I have watched the British Touring Cars on Youtube - that is serious car racing. In Australia, we are half-American.
