one07 Split Balance Gear Spring Tension Setting Tool,

This tool is useful for correctly setting the tension of the SPLIT BALANCE GEAR SPRING. If an inexperienced person removes the balance gear, which has to be done to remove the clutch basket, and per chance doesn't lock the gear first, they will need to re-tension the spring! If an inexperienced person does over tension the spring or the spring breaks, this will not affect the operation of the motorcycle in any way. This spring and it's tension ONLY reduces the noise of the slapping gears. If you have a bike and it has a lot more engine noise (can of nuts and bolts) than another of the similar year, then getting a NEW spring from Norton and correctly setting the tension will help a lot. If you ever take the BALANCE GEAR OFF and forgot to lock it with the GEAR JAM TOOL or bolts like in my manual, you are going to want this tool to reset the tension and NOT DAMAGE the SPRING. The spring is SO easy to damage. If you go one tooth past where you need even once, it's damaged! This split balance gear system is not a new idea or a Norton Idea. It's very old and a VERY GOOD system when properly tensioned.

This tool will be available from Colorado Norton Works.

How to use this tool will be in the UPDATED REV1 of the MANUAL "Split Balance Gear Spring - Norton 961 REV1"
I will be emailing this out to everyone tomorrow. Please be sure to delete the first one I sent and replace with this REV1.

Just received my package from One07 which included the following:
Transmission Vent Kit
Performance Wires
Clutch Jam
Gear Jam
Balance Gear Tension-er

Everything appears high quality as I expected. :) All I need now is the 961.

Thank you, Richard!

Just a reminder:

I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH ---- >>> THIS SPRING STRETCHES VERY EASY!!!!! Be super careful not to pass where you need to go. As soon as the GEAR JAM can slide in, that's it!!! If you go passed by even half a tooth you will have likely stretched your spring as there is no going back.

This may be useful to some of you. The end of the Tool has a notch that can measure if your spring is stretched. If it goes across the notch tightly or almost tight then you are okay -- if there is a massive gap, it's stretched.
