Old Motorcycle movies

So the other day I was surfing through Netflix and I tripped on the original "On Any Sunday". I watched it as I did when I was 15 and it was just the same rush. I really loved watching the movie again and now at 37yo it was like seeing it for the first time again.

So tonight I am surfing through Netflix and I find another movie... "Cycles South" about three dudes riding to mexico on their bikes. They start ut in OClorado on BSA's and end up on Kawi two strokes i think... If anyone knows this one please chime in, I was laughing alot but it was a great movie to watch.

hilarious. especially the part where they are in the commune getting baked then jumping all over the place without helmets etc. Is that really how it was back then??!!

In the mid-1960s, I was secretary of a company motor club in Coventry (before I joined N-V). We used to have a "Motoring Movie Club Night" once a month. Back then, Castrol (the lube oil company) had a very large library of auto and motorcycle films which were available for clubs to rent.

It would be interesting to find out what happened to that library - I hope someone had the sense to preserve it . Anyone in the UK know anything about it?

Frank, A lot of that old footage ended up at The National Motor Museum in Beaulieu. I know a chap there who is in charge of transfering it all into digital format for preservation and archiving.

Our local vintage club shows a Motorcycle/Car related movie every Wednesday night. "On any Sunday" was on two weeks ago and it was the first time I saw it.The part at the start where the neighbor is teaching the other guy to ride is hilarious

It's about 100 times better than it's sequel. I would suggest you avoid it if you ever think about watching it

The little kid wheelieing the minibike in the beginning is awesome. I play it every once in a while as sort of a subliminal attempt to make sure my 1yr old will want to ride.
