Hi folks,

I finally have the new 961 sport out of the crate and licensed. I fired it up and checked the oil and it appears to be quite low. As per the manual I am supposed to use Silkolene comp 4 10w/40. I went to the local Canadian Tire and they do not sell that brand. I currently have some Castral SAE 10w/40 - will this work or should I track down the silkolene ? I am in Saskatchewan Canada - is this brand even available here ?

Thanks !!

Not sure of your neck of the woods, but most dealerships that carry the Euro bikes carry it. It's a synthetic blend.

Make sure you ride the bike or at least warm it to normal temp and then immediately check the oil, many have overfilled with not so good results!

I can just confirm what BPHORSEGUY said. Do not wait checking oil level after engine (and oil pump) is stopped. Best is if you made more than 5 miles of riding before...
In Switzerland I don't get Silkolene and use another brand of 20W50. Ask your dealer which oil fits.

SHELL Rotella T6 5w40 or Rotella T 15w40 if on a budget . Available at Wal-Mart Fully JASO MA approved . Just at the races Road America , Lots of racers use it. I endorse its use . Saw G81 Can Cycle there with 961X . Lots of pictures to show.. All truck stops carry Rotella T. The Oil in Air Box fix STOPS the wet sumping ... Get it , Got it ?

I just scored some Motul 10W40 on Amazon for a reasonable price. I would think any brand with the correct specs should be adequate, no?
