Oil pump worm gear

I have been unable to remove the oil punp worm drive gear. I know it is left hand thread.
Any suggestions

Do not get the bright idea to use your hammer operated impact driver. This I know.

Use a longer lever and lock engine first in some way depending on state of disassembly.

As a matter of fact I don't because I am smart enough to remove the oil pump first :wink:

I think there would be a difference between a rattle gun and as Nattres first warned a hammer operated impact driver, it morphed first into an impact driver and then into a rattle gun as the thread progressed. Any inward force will snap the ends of the scroll off so hammer operated tools are off the menu.

Won't happen within air or electric impact gun but with the little manual one the hammer blow goes straight on to will pound that gear before the turning motion is initiated
