I want to have an oil pressure idiot light to work in tandem with my Old Brits oil pressure gauge. I can't see the oil pressure gauge in the dark and even in good light I might not notice low oil pressure until the engine starts making noise in which case it may be too late to prevent damage.

Not interested in the complicated whizzbang flashing systems being marketed. I am looking for the simplest installation possible so I have decided to just use an oil pressure sender unit as the ground for my "ignition on" light. Easy-peasy without adding unnecessary complications. The light will still let me know when the ignition switch is turned on and once the engine is running I really don't see the need for a light to tell me the ignition is on.

Where is the best place to screw in a sender unit? Any recommendations on a compatible sender unit? Perhaps one that comes on below 10 psi?

Don Pender's (madass140) connects where the rocker feed comes out of the timing cover. That's the one that I install and sell in the US (or go direct to Don).

I tried to grab one from madass140 , but unfortunately the postal system there wouldn't ship to NZ , managed to get one off ebay uk although not sure if he is selling any at the mo
steve4685 was the seller.

How do I do a seller search on ebay? What would that part be listed under?

Not sure an idiot light will catch your attention in broad daylight, should the oil pressure diminish. A warning light and a beeper might do the trick.

At least it will be closer to my line of sight.

for a short time the post office wasnt shipping to a lot of countries, back to normal now.
To ship these by courier is a bit costly, by Post Office airmail $8 but can take forever

I had no luck after speaking with Don gortnipper, maybe it’s changed now ? Don has some handy stuff I’d like !

He tried for me a few months back, boxed it up, took it to the post office and they said no. USPS recently also stopped taking post (mail) to NZ. Part of the covid related shipping issues. It could have been couriered but the cost of that would have far exceeded the value of the part.

yes by courier is around $40 to the US, 4-5 days, best to include with other items

Rather than a warning light that can easily be missed for long periods of time or a beeper that could be drowned out by ride noise, try a micro vibrator from a cell phone or similar, placed under seat cover in the foam so it can be felt by the leg.
Here is one type for less than a fiver:
Oil Pressure Sender Location?

If you fit an oil pressure switch, a good addition is a charge warning light from improving classic motorcycles. This uses the red voltage warning light for both voltage indication and low oil pressure warning, with the bonus that the light flashes fast if the oil pressure goes low.
P.S. I make the oil pressure switch that Hendo bought. I will PM you.

Agreed , I fitted both and they work well. the warning light from improving classics is very bright and is easily seen during the day. cheers
