Oil line

Some fine rivet... err... Herringbone counting going on here!

Gates tranny line works just fine, and got me across the line in good time.

I'm now using Russel pro classic hose in -6 and -8 . This is black nylon braided and does not have the stainless inner which the pro classic 11 has, this makes it possible to so fit over the 3/8 and 1/2 fittings. Around $8 ft on average.

The price on that herringbone line is insane.
I wouldn't trust that stuff on my lawnmower.

Buyer beware.

Gates/Parker/Weatherhead are reputable brands and producers of quality hoses, tested to meet published specs.
Some have cloth covers which look a lot like herringbone.

You are better off looking for a transmission cooler /power steering line made by any of these brands, sold by the foot at most good auto parts stores. Usually $4-5 a foot. Old Britts used to sell a cloth covered line made by Gates.

Thanks for the replies. I found what I was looking for

I don't believe you'll find a march for the original herrinbone lines. It lasted way too long and once the industry shutdown, there was not a big demand. I've looked for many years to find something that worked as well. This is what I'm currently using: Amazon product ASIN B000CRBQAE
It checks all the boxes for me. Right size, meant for hot oil, easy to route without kinking, and approx. same OD as original herringbone hoses.
Greg,
That Gates Automatic Transmission oil cooler hose is great stuff. I've got a roll of it in my shop. I use it for many things. Another source similar to what you suggested earlier, but a USA company. Russell ProClassic Hose. They recommend using AN fittings, but it will work with hose clamps as well.

Ya, I hesitated to mention the AN-type cloth braided hose figuring I'd get slammed for not using AN connectors. The hose you mention looks a lot like herringbone so it would be a good choice.

I know where the herringbone equipment is, the problem is not the actual manufacture of the hose but the sleeve itself, the company that owns it does not have anyone who knows how to use it to weave the sleeves which are needed to make the hose.

I fitted Fecked cut out tap tucked behind Z plate , one wire to + on battery the other to - on coils 1200 mls works perfectly ( its how I stop the motor) got some made in the USA hose from the local hardware shop Gates , it looks ok BUT ! . I just can not bring myself to cut the red stripe heringbone hose that is now in the ' original parts bin '. Maybe the next owner will be pleased when he/she finds it along with the points , balanced pipes , Lockheed brake , cam etc etc.......
