Many times I have tried to find the correct level of oil in the oil tank.
This all came to me apparent when I read a road test of a 750 to which on the run the tester thought the oil tank was half empty and filled it up at the next petrol station to which he then recieved a nice glossy coating on his boots.
I have tried to determine this half full mark when on the run but never manage to hit it dead on and that is of course taking into account any oil which found its way into the sump.
Does anybody have a simple trick?
To add to that I change my oil between 800 and 1000 miles.
