I find that my `71 has consumed/lost/burned as much as 12 oz of Castrol 20/50 GTX in the last 200 miles. (At least that's what it took to bring the oil tank back up the dipstick's midpoint.) This is on top of another 4 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil I've thrown in the gas over that milage as a matter of habit from the early 70s.
I see no obvious leaks, no "puddling on the floor," no immense dripping off the frame, no (excessive) head gasket blowby, no breather oil blown all over the place, no fouled plugs (in fact the brand new 220/106/mid-needle Amals run things beautifully w/ light chocolate colors up to mid throttle -- gray/tan when up on the mains) ... and no smoking even when cold.
The only symptom is having to re-fill what appears to be a lot of oil in relatively short mileage.
Is it really possible to burn that much oil without obvious smoking and/or plug evidence?
