Just a reminder to those who are new to the 961 that the AIR FILTER is under the seat and is the CLEAN-able type. I use the K&N cleaning kit which is a cleaning solution, then air dry (or sun dry) then mist with oil and replace. I just did mine this afternoon as the weather was a bit too wet for riding. But it was on/off sunny so I was able to wash and dry my filter pretty quickly with the help of the sun when it was out.

ALSO -- that CNW has oil filters for the 961 engine for those living in USA. Matt at CNW is a busy guy in general and even more so during bike season so they are not yet up on the site but he does have them if you call. Don't forget to change both TRANS and ENGINE oil at the same time. I have a manual on it and there is a video on you tube by NORTON CANADA. As crazy as it sounds there is a few tricks to changing the oil on the 961 so read the manual and watch the video before attempting on your own.

If only you had posted this a week earlier. I am currently waiting on the Bosch oil filters I purchased on eBay. Couidn't find them anywhere else! And they are coming from Latvia of all places. There were a couple of sellers from Great Britain, but they would not ship to the US for some reason.

Meanwhile, I have missed some really good riding weather. :|

Oh man. Wish I did for you. Well, I beleive he sells them in packs of 3 to help with shipping. We havent spoke much in the last few months because of his summer schedule. But he for sure has them so next time now you know. You will see a lot more items pop up in the 961 section in the fall/winter. Keep checking in on the CNW site.

I'm in the low 6K range now and just checked my filter. Still looks like new. Shook out a little dust. Wiped about a teaspoon of oil out of the airbox with a couple of grains of sand in there.

My genuine Bosch P9147 oil filters just arrived from Latvia, thank goodness. I want to squeeze in an oil change before I pull the ECU out to ship it off to either MCC or Gold Coast for a re-map. Meanwhile, good riding days will be pretty scarce by the time October comes along.

Hi all, regularly check my air filter as my bike has to traverse a km of dirt track before i get to the black stuff.
Having done a service i took off on a 350 km trouble free trip, on my return to my horror when i went put my single seat on the air cleaner was sitting loose in the bottom of the airbox. the moulded rubber ring had torn away from the filter,
has anyone else had this problem ?
regards Steve
p.s. i put it down to rock hard suspension, has anyone worked out a good starting point on the settings ?

The oem norton manual has all the methods to set the settings for your weight. It takes two people to do this. This will get you close. Then if you wish, take to a pro. The nortons are usually set to the harder side from factory. Sorry to hear about ripped filter.
