Does anyone have a match for the '74-'75 white as per the 'JPN' paintwork?
None of the auto 'whites' are pure white, so I'm guessing this one won't be any different.

Also looking for a match for the silver as per early Fastback oil tanks & side panels - again, I suspect that bright silver would be too bright
None of my tinware has any original paint - except an ex-Lancashire Constabulary oil tank in white - fat lot of use!

Thanks in advance

Don't know about white paint colours but for silver paint I can recommend Mercedes Brilliant Silver, code DB744. It's not as bright as you might think and is a good modern alternative to Norton silver (whatever that was?). I had my Interstate sprayed with this silver and it looks fab!

Ford Diamond white, which is an off white Ivory colour.

Thanks - I chased along and got this too - very useful - off to do some masks now :)

Are you doing the 'full monty' JPS job Andy? If so, please keep us posted as to the colour codes you use and what the finished article looks like matey.

BTW... Do you do this painting lark for a living, or partial income time thingy, or just on your own machines?

Yes, It will be one of these (I'm actually doing two - one to fund the other).

I used to do it for a 'living' years ago. Like a lot of things, great fun until you have to do it every day...
In recent times just on my own bikes, but I have been persuaded on occasion to help mates out.
At the moment, partial income is probably a good description - if I advertised it would cause all manner of havoc, and I want to keep it enjoyable.

I've been wanting to do my roadster in these colours but gave up on it for the time being! However, I intend to pick it up again and get it done this winter. Fancy doing one more this winter?

Dang gorgeous to see but heck what'd we expect doing it in such a clean kitchen or sterile operating room surrounds. Someone got to do it - so a nice high to see what's possible, to competent equipped folks. I'm happy if bug bodies don't show up too much.

Easy when you're Eddie Lawson - always respected him as the coolest racer of the day, but since I saw this photo I think he's a damn' fine guy too!
Up there with Steve McQueen and Clint on the 'S' type

I wish I knew what I'll be doing this winter... :?

If you mean Eddie Lawson's Commando? Then it was one just out of the crate.

The white tank Roadster was still in its original shipping crate when acquired by Eddie Lawson in 1990. After de-crating only several months ago, he decided the Norton was not a suitable 'come-back' machine! Offered in a believed-never-run condition, showing only 0.7 miles on the odometer, the Commando – which left the Wolverhampton factory in late 1974 – will require a thorough mechanical check before use.

I got the white done, now working on the masks, courtesy of Swooshdave's measurements.

I'll try the red & blue per the Aussie website
http://nortoncommando.tradesman4u.com.au/techo.htm

JPN Red Leyland Flame Red
JPN Blue Rootes Ming Blue

If anyone needs a set of 'JPN' tinware, I may have a set to spare in a couple of weeks :)

Incidentally, I found some original Fastback silver on a side panel - it's just plain silver. The sample I have looks a bit grey due to age having dulled the shine, and I'm not too keen on introducing patina, so straight silver is looking promising. The Aussie site mentions Ford silver Fox, which is another bright silver.

SILVER FOX is a metalic used on 1600Es & Zodiac Mk IVs , as is Blue Mink . though they might not look metalic .
