I bought it today... well committed to buy it and will be picking it up tomorrow. Black Sport will be on the back of my car tomorrow after I drive to Gold Coast, 4 hour drive! I won't sleep tonight.

Do you think I should tell the wife or ask for forgiveness?

It's easrier to ask for forgiveness, than permission.
Lockup the guns, and knives first.

Good luck.

Congrats!

You bought the black one because she liked it better, so I'd tell her and make sure you tell her that you preferred the Manx silver one more, but wanted to make her happy...

Guns locked...check
Knives I couldn't lock since she started asking questions so I hope this does not come out to be a news story of a Bobbit Re-Do.

Thank you gentlemen and now is their anyone around me with a Norton? I am in Upstate NY near Cooperstown, NY

Not yet, but by around May I'll be within 100 miles or so. :D

Paul,

Good luck today picking up the bike.
Stay as far away from Manhattan as possible.
The Pope is in town all day, and traffic is crazy nuts already - 8:00 AM.

Alright another crazy SOB, 961 owner. Just what we need. LOL Welcome to the forum. All you Northeast guys need to come down this winter for a Key West Run (you too TonyA)

And remember I start campaigning the Black SF on the AHRMA circuit next year. There are races in Georgia, Louisiana, California (northern and southern), Wisconsin, Michigan, New Jersey, Utah, Alabama, and Florida (in that order) If the race is in your area I expect some 961's parked in the pits with the race team for moral support

The race team will have four riders. All Norton motorcycles, with 1 1938 Manx, 2 1940's vintage race bikes, 3 1970's Commandos, and 1 2015 961.

So come have a beer and support 961 racing

John

John,

Looking forward to seeing you in New Jersey next July.

Pete

I'll be there for the Northern California event. I gather that's Sonoma Raceway? Do you happen to know the date? Want to make sure I've got it blocked off on the calendar.

Will be pulling for you and looking forward to meeting you in person.

You're not getting off that easy The California races are back to back So I will be driving from S CA to N CA and staying for the week. I used to live in the Bay Area and worked at Lawrence Livermore for five years. I used to ride some great roads from Livermore around the back side of Mount Diablo into the Concord area, not to mention some great roads on the SF side of the Bay. I planned on doing some of those rides again with you, I just had not told YOU yet LOL

John - It's Dean and that would be great! I live in the east bay near Redwood Road and can muster up at least a couple more 961s. I've been riding in the bay area for four decades now. Favorite area is east and north of Napa -- amazing deserted roads, little traffic, few cops. There's also Alice's Restaurant in Woodside toward the coast and various Marin rides, but both areas are more travelled these days. Should be fun. It's on my calendar for late April.

Any other takers?

I am getting old and senile. Should have looked up old PM's for your name. My apologies

John

Really no worries. I don't think of you as John, but as G81 Can Cycle.

OH MY WAS TRAFFIC CRAZY!!!!!! Too bad I did not watch the news or read this prior but lets be honest... I would have still braved the traffic. I was scared someone was going to smash my mototote off the back of my car and even more so once the Norton was loaded.

OH MY I DID IT NOW!

Wish I had known you were going to go pick it up. I could have met you there with mine. I'm 15 minutes away. I have a black monoposto. How far away do you live?
We can get a little 961 club going with BritTwit.

I live near Cooperstown, NY which is approx 3.5 hrs away. I am always open to drive and meet places. I do it often to go ride in the dirt. I have a local friend that also has a BritBike so the two of us would be more than happy to meet up a weekend.

What I would like to really do is a take a trip on the bike for a 3-5 days or more. That's what we should plan :D
